Estimated Cost of Operation WA MMJ Collective

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by angusbeef, Aug 29, 2012.

  1. Just curious what we'd be getting into in terms of capital.

WA state law allows 45 plants to be grown in "collective" for 3-10 patients.

Can anyone with experience gimme an estimate on start up and monthly maintenance costs to operate a grow of this proportion?

  2. Depends on how you plan on growing those 45 plants.

  3. 45 plants....

Depends on the size... I helped a friend build a grow room, he has 5x1k HPS lights...

talking 100$ per bulb... like 250 for the ballast and reflectors a piece...

    depends hydro or soil...

    50$ a bucket I'd say....

    gets expensive...

  4. For sure..

I'm up for options and opinions.

  5. Stack bread.

  6. Its your space and budget...

This is way to vague to even answer.

    How bout a greenhouse

How bout 1 light per plant

How bout 45 1 gallon pots on a 4x4 table

    Its endless

I operate a 'collective' garden in wa and only run 2600 Watts in light

  7. My best friend built a room for 18 flowering plants and 16 vegging...

    Did everything top notch.
    -mini split ac
    -co2 for veg and bloom
    -commercial dehumid

The whole works, in the end it cost around $30,000 for the rooms... and he did the labor himself.

That's insane! Unless he's getting a lb per plant

  9. Not each time 30k. Just startup. Shit is expensive to do right, what you think? Everyone would do it if it was $5.

  10. I understand, but what I mean is 30k is quite the initial investment. Props for doin it! That's legit!

WA law is so grey...currently one patient can only have 1.5lbs. So technically a collective could only have 4.5 lbs.
That's where it gets fucked up. One greenhouse plant grown well can produce that.

  11. Thats why u have only 4.5 lbs flowering at one time. Veg other plants and you're always harvesting.

  12. So share with me your method to madness my mang.. send me a private message if need be.. idk if you'd be willing to share your initial investment and upkeep costs.

Well like I said its all on your budget...

I'm still working things out but currently I run 12 3 gal pots in a 4x4 table pulling 1.25 lbs and 9 in a 4x4 next to it pulling I don't know yet. Both of those under 1k each. I have a 4x4 tent with a 600 just holding mothers for now but I'd like to put a 3x3 table in there and flower it too.

I have a 4x3 veg box with a 6 bulb t8 in it that does way better than I expected. And then a small clone tray/dome that holds whatever clones I need.

I run a 7 week strain called purple arrow, a 9 week strain afgooey and I'm working on getting my 10 weeker deadhead og in there too.

I just set all this up as of June but it takes time and if I had the capital and space to do it how I wanted I'd be set.

Like I said I've only pulled one crop so far. 20.5 zips from 12 3 gal pots. My 9 in 5 gallons are about a week out still. I wont run the 5 gs again too much plant but I'd like to try a 2 gallon round and see what I can get.

Its definitely still a work in progress. Once you have space for 45 girls you realize its not that many plants. And I'm anal about having two or three strains where if I wasn't I could work out a solid schedule

As for investment I have no clue how much all this was. Its gone from a single 4x4 tent with 6 plants to a bubble bucket setup to a 5x5 with dual 600s to what it is now.

Every crop I do well I try and step up my next one. Where I'm at now I'd like to just make it as easy maintenance as I can and pretty much make it a simple/fun part time job.

  14. the room yields around 8-12 oz per plant.
Exactly it was just the start up cost..

    Monthly it costs around $600

  15. 8 to 12 zips is pretty impressive!

How long is veg and what setup does he use?

  16. 4k HPS, soil and 100-120 days
