Escalating sore throat afterwards

    Been using a bong recently, I was using a vaporizer attached to the bong, but wanted to try it "straight". I've noticed after one bowl, my throat will become on fire and get worse and worse for about 15 minutes afterward. I didn't have this issue with a vaporizer.

    I also add a few drops of theraputic grade essential oil to the water.

    Anyone have this issue? I'm new to smoking, only been a few months.
