epoxy to fix tube, safe?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Jakejake678, Mar 12, 2012.

  1. hello i recently purchased a 250 dollar meso high tube with a perc and ashcatcher, very nice. well unfornatly i was at the wrong place at the wrong time and my buddy accidently pulled out the female while trying to pull out the ashcathcer(he should have just pulled out the male peice like everyone else...) but as he did that he freaked out and cracked where the female goes down, well dirrectly after that where it cracked it had a very clean crack, but i picked up some epoxy and put it on and the next day it was airtight and it hit like brand new, well i was thinking about it, and i was wondering if it is safe to be ripping a tube with epoxy on it... i have a ashcatcher so its not like the heat is directly touching it, idk haha im kinda stoned so i might just be a little paranoid but thanks just let me know.

  2. I'd like to say no. Not sure what epoxy emits when subjected to heat but I'm sure it cant be healthy.

  3. could it not be unhealthy?

  4. but i doubt it really gets hot becuase i have a ashcatcher.... i dunno though it might not be safe just to inhale the fumes from unburned epoxy in general. anyone?

  5. is it withing heating distance of the bowl? say 1 or 1.5 inches? if not the smoke really wont heat it up much at all

If it makes you feel better i have repaired one of my bongs with epoxy. use it every day for the last 3 ish years and nothing.

  6. Use silicone gel it's mega heat resistant and perfectly safe I know from personal experience.

Edit: google silicone epoxy and boom.

  7. The joint peice broke on mine pretty bad. Used high temp epoxy to get it back into place and when that hardened I used jb weld ontop of that. I would say it is stronger now than before. And it shouldn't get hot enough to cause any health problems with it burning off
