Epoxy Putty Safe?

Discussion in 'Cannabis Consumption Q&A & Tips' started by AG222, Nov 1, 2012.

  1. So attached are two pictures of my broken bong :(. I am planning to buy some Quick Steel Epoxy Putty to fix the bong. I am hoping to use the putty to permanently connect the downstem to the bong. It will suck that it is always attached but it will stop leaking air and hopefully make my bong workable again. Will smoking out of a bong that is repaired the way I am going to repair it harm me? I don't want to inhale whatever is in the putty, but I am not sure if it will harm me because it is located on the downstem. Thanks for the responses I could really use some help! If this fails I am going to pony up 150$ for a new bong.

I repaired my bong when the base broke and I used an epoxy based glue. Although, in my situation there was no heat or smoke touching the glue at any time and I'm still here.

Your pictures aren't showing, which would really help.

Edit: No, I would seriously consider purchasing a new bong. Even though you will seal the air space with the glue, the smoke will still surface the glue which is not a good thing.

  3. Does it matter that the Quick Steel putty is heat resistant? Thanks for the help.

  4. I'm no expert, but even if the glue says it's heat resistant, I would imagine there is potential for the smoke to contain chemicals just by coming in contact with the glue.

I was reading a thread the other day about someone fixing their piece with clay. You could try that, but again I have no idea if it will completely solve your problem.

  5. Thanks for all your help. I am just going to go get the same bong from a local headshop, not worth it with the health risks and I have some money to spare

  6. Good choice man, I would with that kind of break. I'm waiting to see some sort of sale in the next few weeks for the Grasscity shop. I have ordered multiple times from there and have had no issues. Check it out! You may find a better bong for cheaper than your lhs.

Best of luck and be safe.
