i believe that empathy is what makes us human, not just the rational brain. empathy will bring the world to a place that is better than where we are now. empathy is the answer.
I wouldn't go as far to say that its the key, but I will agree that it is a part of the key. lol (not much diff i guess) But when you say "empathy will bring the world to a place that is better than where we are now." you can't go wrong with that.
that's right you can't go worng with that! ++ I personnaly think empathy is the key to /understanding one another/ wich is, in itself, a step closer to peace.
it is the key. without empathy, we are only smarter than average monkeys. lets do a thought experement. lets think of all the people we personally have met that we love and admire. now think about how much empathy they have shown you. my guess is that those 2 numbers are about the same. meaning that the reason we love people is because they have shown us empathy. so if we truly acted like every person we met on this planet was our brother and sister and mother and friend, in no time we would be receiving that love and brotherliness back. civilization is somewhat based on this ideal but clearly we have not gone nearly far enough. civilization could/should be in a much different place if we would understand the power of empathy. one doesnt go to war with someone they are empathetic about. one doesnt screw someone they are doing business with when they are empathedic about things. one wouldnt hate their jobs if they went to an empathetic work place. kids wont starve. lonliness will be all but eliminated from the earth. violence gone. humans have time to work on curing disease or exploring the earth/universe. civilization could/should be in a much different place if we would understand the power of empathy.
