Emergency blankets????

  1. I am running a 180w LED grow, and need some cheap reflective material. Is it even possible to create hotspots with LEDs?

Also, are they lightproof? even if I doubled it up, it would be cheaper than mylar. This is inside a rubbermaid container, dont want it to glow.

  2. I found em useless. They are very thin, are not light proof and rip quite easily. A better plan of attack for you would be to use black primer with a flat white top coat. That should make it light proof for about the same cost as the blankets, with about the same (if not better) reflectivity.

  3. Agree. They are designed to reflect heat not light. If you hold them up to the light you can see right through them. Doubling them doesn't help, that just creates more layers to trap the light. There's a reason those space blankets are so cheap. You want horticulture-grade mylar costs more, comes on a roll with a mirror finish and is designed to reflect light.

  4. Your local hydro store will have some for cheap.

  5. got some mylar, thanks guys:D
