Elizabeth Warren

  1. Hey, was wondering what people on GC thought of Elizabeth Warren. She strikes me as a smart, reasonable, hard-working person and honestly the type of person that I'd like to see more of in congress. I could talk more about specifics but I'd like to see what you all think.

I can't really pinpoint why but for some reason she reminds me a bit of Ron Paul. Their ideologies are very far apart but I don't know... Maybe the calm, rational dignity that they both have about their respective beliefs? Hmm..

    :bongin:

  2. do you really want to know what I think

i think you can probably guess ;)

  3. Meh, go ahead, it would be enlightening to know why some people dislike her. :smoke:

  4. to keep it civil. i dislike her for most of the same reasons i can't stand all statists. she is an opponent of self ownership, she is an opponent of private property, she is an advocate of subservience to the state, she is a proselyte of a ridiculous economic ideology...one that has continuously failed since its inception, yet is continuously backed by the state and statists (see: subservience to the state). and above all i can't stand self entitled cunts (thats the brittish usage of cunt, not meant to be misogynistic. just generally offensive) who think they can tell other people what to do and how to live their lives. i'm sure that i will come up with more but that's the meat of it.

Emotional appeals are cute, but her assumption is that these things aren't already being paid for.

    Reality check:

Share of Taxes Paid Under Current Law, by Cash Income Percentile, 2010

Top 20% earners already pay nearly 70% (68.6) of federal taxes.

    Reality check:

Half of Americans pay no federal income tax - Business - Personal finance - Tax Tactics - msnbc.com

If an action done by an individual is immoral, it is still immoral when the government does it.

The income tax started out as a small tax, 1% for those earning 20,000 a year and under. 7% for those earning 500,000 plus.

Just like any agency of government or tax, it's a cancer. Left untreated, it will only continue to grow at your expense.

Why are other people entitled to a portion of your income? If other individuals have to seize a percentage of your income before it reaches you, then it truly isn't yours.

This leaves us with an attitude that government takes whatever percentage of your income they like, so shut up because you are lucky to get back what you do.

  8. Bernanke might seem smart and reasonable if you didn't understand economics and had no interest in the consequences of his actions as a government employee.

It's basically the same deal with Warren. Her intentions may seem fine on the surface to the ignorant, but, at the end of the day, she's part of a criminal/terrorist institution and has a vested interest in continuing, and even expanding, said institution.

  9. At heart, Warren believes in implied contracts. I just can't agree with her. I think a contract needs to be entered into voluntarily.

  10. She sucks at life.

  11. She said: "No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own -- nobody." She said even a factory owner who became wealthy used public goods like roads, police and fire, and public education. She added: "Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea? God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along."

Yeah... no thanks. Universal healthcare is enough socialism for me.

  12. ^^ not to mention that she completely missed the point that those factory owners ALREADY FUCKING PAID FOR THE SHIT.

what she should have said is. "you got rich using services that you already paid for, but it wasn't enough, so we need you to pay more...derp"

  13. Well meaning useful idiot.

  14. there's a haiku in there somewhere

  16. Elizabeth Warren spent her entire career fighting banks and credit card companies who want to take exploit the laws to fuck over consumers.

    She's a hero IMO.

  17. Keep fighting the good fight, Liz.

  18. Ironically all she does in strengthen the banks and corporations. The stronger the government the more power the special interests have. In the United States that would be the 1%.

  19. Elizabeth Warren is a monster!
