Hi guys, 3 years of experience behind me with growing with multiple setups and lighting systems, got my current veg and flower tents nicely dialed but upgrading my flower room, just wanted to ask about electricity concernes, I currently only run one hps 600w and one 600w mh fine through some heavy duty extension leades with no aggravation but as I'm upping my flower room too 4x600's I just wanted to ask the best idea to power them? Do I need a contacter board or what? Plants will no longer be vegged under my roof so no worries about the mh interfering, thanks guys any help is appreciated as I'm not the best clued up electrician lol
Each 600w ballast (120v) will draw 5.5 amps of power... So you will need a 20 amp outlet to run three 600w lamps.. You can tell a 20 amp outlet by the outlet itself... This is a 15 amp outlet.... To run four lamps you will need one 20 amp and one 15 amp outlet. Or two 15 amp outlets would work as long as they're on different breakers of course.... The power consumption.... You can use this link.... Electricity Usage Calculator Just look at your electric bill for the "cost per Kw hour"... Mine is $0.17 per Kw hour and national average is $0.15 per... Plug the cost per Kw hour into that calculator, the total watts your lights and blowers are using, and you'll get the monthly cost... Peace
