Electrical issues

  1. So my electrical sockets are pulling so much power that the outlet is melting.

Today... My electrical socket does not work but the others in the room do. What should I do? What could have caused this?

I'm thinking some wiring or something melted inside. I can change to a socket farther away but I do not want to rinse and repeat the same process.

Can I (a) fix the socket and (b) how can I prevent it from happening again?

I know my washer and dryer use a special outlet... Does it have to be similar?

  2. I checked the circuit breaker. It's fine

  3. How much are you running on one outlet??

  4. Are you using an extension cord? If so what gauge is it?

  5. What, you got everything plugged into one outlet. I use a surge protector with a circuit breaker built into it.

If shit in my house starts melting i call someone in to check it out. That's fucked up, man.

  6. I've got a surge protector to the outlet. Looks about a quarter inch thick.

    I've got a 600w hps bulb.

I'm thinking of splitting the dryer outlet and running a power cable on down

  7. 600w hps
    All fans.
    8000 btu AC

    A couple other small things.

  8. Yea get a thicker gauge protector like for power tools and run the ac on a different outlet..i have the same setup on one 15a circuit but the ac is on a different outlet..never gets hot

  9. But now the outlet won't even spit power out.

I have a regular outlet and the outlet being used by the washer and dryer now. What options do I have?

  10. i would change the outlet and see what it looks like in there but if your not comfortable i would call an electrician..

  11. I'm thinking of disconnecting the dryer. Connect everything to that heavy duty outlet until I fix the outlet issue

  12. That should be a 220 line for you dryer. I don't think you can dp that. The grow equipment is 110

  13. Please be sure your using a converter if your dyer (maybe washer too) runs on 220 and your house is only 110.

  14. Your light is pulling 5 amps and figure a couple of amps for the fans. Find the amp rating fot the a/c and add that in. If you are pulling around 15 amps or more you probably have too much on a single circuit.

  15. The fact that your breaker didn't trip with all that and it choose to melt the outlet instead worries me too.

  16. ^^^^^^^^^^^ yes ^^^^^^^^^^^^

  17. The circuit has tripped various times. When I came in today my surge protector was on the floor so something happened. It's not common. I've been with this set up for 5 months.

  18. Yea. I have a converter.

  19. Check other outlets in the house for that red/black reset switch. It may have been tripped in another room and killed the outlet you're plugged in to.

  20. So the outlet I'm using now has that red lack thing. It is not tripped. I can check one other I have in the house but I doubt the two outlets are tied together in that asoect
