Electrical help for new nursery.

  1. Right now we are in a murky area legally, but our goal here is to supply safe rooms for grower collectives. Right now we have 4 rooms growing and will be adding 5 more specifically for it. We currently have 200 amp service and I am wondering the optimum amount of outlets that would be safe in this instance. The eventual plan is 28 110 volt outlets and a total of 4 220 outlets.

So the idea is to not overload the service, but to offer the optimum for each room. Where we are currently each card holder can have 72 plants in any state and up to 3 pounds of dried in possession. I am going to keep the rooms to 12' by 10' separated with a a veg and a flower area per room. We will draw cool air from outside and expel warm air through the ceiling fans.

So is it viable or do I need to scale back, or add another 200 amps of service (also a possibility, but is very drastic and expensive.

I'm assuming your supply is 110 volts, 200 amps divided between 9 rooms gives you roughly 2.4Kw (21.8A) per room, but this figure also includes A/C Etc. if you are using transformers to get 220v the input current (amp's) will be double the output current Ie. 440w = 4A@ 110v 2A@220V
So as a rough estimate if you are using 2-3x600w lamps per room, and make sure
they dont all come on at the same time you will be ok with 200A.
Two 600w lamps per room leaves about 48% power in reserve for ventilation Etc.
If your supply is 220v then you still have 21.8 A per room but 4.8Kw of available power,
in which case of course you could use larger bulbs .:)
