electrical costs

  1. I'm trying to fingure out just how billing works. For example every KW used costs me $0.08 during the night and $0.20 during the day. Does this refer to each kw used per hour, day or minute? If a 1kw light is running for 1 hour, how much electricity has it used?

  2. Holey shit $0.20 per KW/hr. Thats outrageous! What state are you in?

Anyway. the charge is in KW per hours.

Example: A 1000W HPS lamp uses 1KW per hour. so at $0.20 per KW/hr your light will cost (on 12/12 cycle) 12hrs of operation a day at $0.20 per hour your light will cost $2.40 per day to run thats $72.00 a month. (30day month)

  3. I would run your lights at night and save a lot of cash.

  4. Your bill is calculated on kilowatt hours, not kilowatts. Running a 1kw light for one hour will consume one kilowatt hour.

  5. Thanks toasty, that's exactly what was after! Wow, you guys in the states get your energy (and oil) dirt cheap compared to the rest of humanity, I'm quite shocked after looking into it. Well, we've considered the jump to cali for a few years now, and that's one more reason to add to the list.
