Egypt's Mubarak Won't Run for Re-Election

  1. haha, you ARE King Tut after all.

Also, even if he did run......I don't think anyone would vote for him considering they want him out immediately.

  2. Also, I don't closely follow the situation but I've been watching Al Jazeera recently and what makes his statement that he will not run in September worth anything?

What happened to the previous elections? were there any? He's been president for nearly 30 years, something tells me if he changes his mind and decides to stay president theres not much anyone can do, aside from protests in the streets.

  3. i dont think this announcement will be good enough for the Egyptians. Even if he doesn't intend to run, he could still pull some shit and have his buddy win in his stead. Mubarak is a pro at rigging elections, he's been doing it for the last 30 years.

  4. This is far from over man.

There are armed pro-Mubarak "protesters" attacking the Egyptian protesters in Alexandria. They say they are really security forces. It seems plausible because there's only a couple of hundred of them I think.
It's really getting tense it seems. Shots fired from the pro-Mubarak protesters.

There have been clashes between the two groups and I just heard machinegun fire. I think it was the tank machinegunner.
