So I heard that by adding eggshells that it helps the plants grow because your adding more calcium to the plant and well calcium is good for all plants. Also heard that Tums which is pretty much calcium carbonate or chalk. Would that be good to toss in the soil with the plants or no? Is there anything else that you could find around the house to toss in the soil or also composting?
I don't think eggshells in the pot will make much difference one way or the other. IMO you should toss them on your compost heap along with vegetable scraps coffee grounds lawn and garden waste. Let the pile work 4-5 months and turn it over. Use the decomposed stuff (compost) from the bottom of the pile in your potting mix.
