Egg shells

  1. I remember as a child my mom told me if I put broken egg shells on top of the soil it will grow tall and healthy.

Do you think this could apply to the growth of my plants? Bc egg shells provide
    Calcium.

*I also heard coffee grounds goes well with plants providing nitrogen.

I'm sure this won't be recommended but I thought i'd ask anyways.

  2. I'll answer this with a question. With all the nutrients available on the market. Why would you add egg shells and coffee grounds?

  3. Years ago I worked in a breakfast cafe.. And I had this customer that came in and asked me if I would collect a few bucket loads of egg shells every so often for her outside garden..said something about keeping the worms out.. I thought she was nuts so I never gave it any thought. But maybe..

  4. sounds like you're on track for deciding to set up a compost pile and not bother having your pocket raped by nutrient companies and hydro stores.

I'm not sure either grounds or shells put in your existing soil is going to do you much good but both of them(and anything else you can get in there) being allowed to break down in a compost pile will be quite beneficial.

  5. @Erbalist. that is true. With every nutrient on the market, y use egg shells.

@Jmosely. No. It's not about me trying to become a penny saver. Just thought i'd put it out there and see the answers, but who knows, maybe one day i'll give it a try with some bag seeds and grow super dank shit?

  6. yeah its going to take a while for the egg shells to brake down and for its values to be of any use to the plant
