Edible Recipies

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by My Buds, Jan 26, 2012.

  1. my oven is broken, and it will not be fixed anytime soon(my family has never used it, so there is no need to fix it). are there any edibles you could make in the microwave? if yes, could you please write me a recipe. i have never made/tried them, so please dont write negative comments. thank you very much for your input :)

  2. It's possible, however edibles made in the microwave very rarely come out very well. You don't have a very wide margin for error... for instance, a few seconds too under-done, and they'll hardly (or won't) work at all. A few seconds too over-done, and they'll hardly (or won't) work at all. While on the other hand, when working on the stove-top or in an oven, the only few-second margin you'd have in a microwave suddenly becomes an hour or even longer, and anywhere roughly in the middle still provides great effects.
And with the added time in the oven or on the stove top, comes increased bioavailability, meaning your body can absorb multiple times the amount, and your dose count begins to multiply!

Especially if you have a high tolerance and you need more material to achieve the desired effect, to begin with, that's going to increase your waste margin, and you're going to waste much more herb in the process, compared to the amount that people with a much lower tolerance sneaking around their parents would. :)

If you can afford your smoke, you can always buy a $15 hot plate for your room, so you can double boil some oil, or you could spend $40 on a toaster oven.

Think of it this way, for the cost of $15, you can take one expensive $10 - $20 edible dose that may or may not work in the microwave, and turn that same amount of canna into 3 or 4 stronger, longer-lasting doses if you make your oil properly and more gradually, on a more controlled heat source than a microwave.

You'd make back the cost of the hot plate, and even start saving money in weed, with your very first edible. :)

It's not just about activating the herb, or breaking it down in the oil (which still can not be very accurately/reliably done in the microwave), but it's also about creating a bioavailable solution that your body can actually absorb. Using gentle temps and processing properly, makes the difference between one mediocre dose, and using the same material to make multiple, stronger doses. In a microwave, the longer you heat at such intense temps, the more potency you're going to degrade and lose, long before you achieve good bioavailability.
If that's your only option, you're best off jump-starting your herb in oil, then letting it sit for several weeks to become bioavailable. If that's the case, microwave your well-ground herb on a heat-safe dish for 7 seconds, then mixed in with coconut oil or butter for 45 seconds. Then allow this mixture to sit for three or four weeks (or to try and get the most out of your oil in the least amount of time, keep microwaving in 5 - 10 second intervals, depending how much oil/herb you've used, allowing it to rest for a half hour to an hour in between, until you achieve the desired effect).

The microwave seems like the quickest option, but we're not just trying to heat up our herb. It's actually more tedious and takes much longer, and requires a lot more precision and timing when using a microwave in order to get an edible to come out even close to as powerful, as a properly made oil.

Hope this helps clear things up. :)
