ebb and flow question

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by LetGo, Nov 21, 2014.

  1. Wanting to start vegging w/ ebb n flow.
was wondering do you NEED the airstone in res if you flood 4-6 times throughout light cycle?
every setup i see shows w/ airstone but i dont see why it would need one since the table holding the water for only 10-15 mins at a certain root line then draining allowing oxygen.

    thanks in advance,

  2. The oxygen bubbles is gonna keep the water in your res from becoming stagnant when not circulating, nutrients will stay well mixed not collecting on the bottom so much , also when it fills the tray the water is,gona push old oxygen up and out of the roots, more oxygenated the water is the better,

  3. Stagnant waters are more easily inhabited by organisms

  4. I feel the same I veg on a 4x6 with a 40 gallon res and I have 3 air stones in my res more air the better and a side note my ph seems to be more stable with the air also

  5. You're risking root rot if you don't oxygenate your res. Get it once, you'll never want it again! It is a simple, low cost step to prevent the rot. I run 3 stones in my 50 gal res.
