Eating bugs to save the planet?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Slick21, Nov 29, 2022.

  1. Bezos, and others say yes...one quarter of the population already do...
There is, over the next decade, plans to overload TV advertising to normalise this.
Apparantly the plan is to raise meat and chicken prices so high, your kids' won't have an affordable call.

    Fuck roach risotto personally...thoughts?

'Cos this is coming. Well past 8 Billion now.

  3. My thoughts are, I can get fertilized chicken eggs locally if I so wanted. Once you got a few hens and a rooster, your flock will grow pretty quick.

  4. Also, rabbits have stupid fast gestation period, making them a fantastic food source. Cheap too.

  5. It’s weird because the more they push bugs the more we eat meat.

The lizard brain on high alert!

  7. We are going to revolt before we ever get to the point where we are eating bugs. That’s my hope at least.

  9. My family will always eat real meat, like humans have done for as long as we've existed.

I'm not sure where this talk of eating bugs has been but that's the first I've heard of it (aside from other countries/cultures eating them because they're a great source of protein and an acquired taste).

For those that have, what I consider, very strange views, lab grown meat is very close to being available to most of the population.

  10. Also, meat will never be unaffordable...

  11. Meat is heavily substituted by government to be as cheap as it is.

Be vegetarian, then you dont have to worry about it

  12. The price of meat has a lot to do with feed conversion ratio. Animals that take longer to reach market weight are going to be pricier due to the increased feed consumption as compared to a smaller animal that grows rapidly. Thats why a chicken breast is always cheaper than a T-bone. You can also look at it like this: How much does it cost to feed a cow for 30 days compared to how much does it cost to feed a rabbit for 30 days. It takes a cow about 1.5 years to be ready for slaughter, it takes a chicken 16 weeks or less.

  15. I've yet to see any proof that cows, hogs or chickens are damaging the planet.

  16. Nope, no bugs for me, I'm old enough that the world could start to collapse (I think it already is) and it won't affect me.
