Easy to get Medical Card

Discussion in 'Medical Cannabis: Treatments & Patient Experiences' started by willis62, Oct 18, 2006.

  1. It seems to me after reading many of the threads in the Medical Marijuana forum that you can get a medical card for just about anything that has any potential of causing pain or lack of sleep to a patient. Just how easy is it and what are the basic requirements that doctors look for when giving somebody a medical card. It seems to me that with such tight restrictions that the government has put on marijuana, they would want to regulate the medical cards pretty tightly and make sure that the right people were getting them for the right reasons. Any responses on this baffling subject are greatly appreciated.

  2. well... it is easy if you have a semi good reason and/or can lie well. For instance, I can get one when I want because my mom, aunt, grandma and grandpa all have medical marijuana cards for insomnia, which is hereditary. I have trouble getting to sleep every now and then, and it's starting to get worse. If I feel the need, I can go and shove out 120 bucks and get myself a med card, so yes, it is fairly easy.

  3. does this mean you can get a medical card, then make up some phoney reason as to why you need marijuana to help this problem, and then get bud for free??

  4. thats tight man... u live in cali?

  5. no, you still have to pay for the meds at the dispencery. yes, I live in cali.

  6. which government are you talking about?
keep in mind that even in states that DO allow Med Mar. the federal government has decided that MM is still totally illegal. The DEA can come in at any time, close the dispensiaries, and arrest people for possesion/cultivation of marijuana.
its not as plain an issue as some people think.
but we all know how nice mary jane can be for treating a lot of symptoms, so yes it seems you can get it as long as you have a decent reason.

and keep in mind that MM from the official dispensiaries is pretty pricey i hear, good weed, but its expensive. then again you dont have to deal with dealers, so, thats a big plus.

  7. Wouldn't your insurance cover MM as it would any other percription your doctor subcribes. So it wouldn't end up costing that much. Plus the MM is like some ak-47. They grow that shit for potency.

  8. okay first off i have never used MM or live in a state that offers it but from what i know you have to go to special dispensares, clubs to get the weed. it's not like goint to eckerd or your local pharmacy and pickin up some other prescription meds. your insurance will probably not cover the MM. i dont think you get a prescription for it,i think its just a card that says you need it and then you can go to the clubs and stock up but im pretty sure insurance wont cover it. but if you try and it does work let me know what insurance you got and i will definently switch.

  9. is that so? What are the chances of the DEA going to your house for having a legal card and possessing it? I mean damn.... California should secede from the US :p

  10. Not worth the chances...

Well i definately wouldnt grow outside, inside is another stroy.

But the whole point of a med card would be so you could fill your backyard with beasty marijuana tree's ^_^

  11. so what are some requirements? Details.

  12. insurance will not cover the MM. if you find one that does, please post up the company name.

as for the requirements. that's going to depend on the doctor you're visiting. the reason is, for every disorder or illness you may have, there is already some sort of prescription or practice being used as a standard to solve these problems (not that they are the most effective). most usually the doctor will use these options first. like somebody said in an earlier post, MM is not like most people think. MM is based solely on state laws at the moment and that means that the federal government can override this if they feel necessary. that doesn't mean that they will, but it is possible. doctors DO NOT prescribe MM, they "recommend" it. i'm just trying to cover these issues real quick, so if i missed anything i'll try to get to it later. good luck with whatever happens.
