East Coast road trip! Need East Coasters help!

  1. Alright blades. Had no clue where to post this so figured this was the most relavant thread.
So in the Summer I'm going on a road trip. A family road trip from Florida. To Connecticut or even maybe a little.more north.
First off. I can't smoke the whole trip. Just certain times and places but I'm not too concerned about that.
What I want to know is. What state do you live in/visit and what makes it unique? What spots are really awesome? Such as a nature park with a really scenic flower pasture. Or a mountain with a view to die for.
Just anything that would be a fun activity.
I'm the one in charge of planning the trip for the.most part. And want to make a few memories in every state on my coast.
Just another detail. My family is pretty active/outdoors. I'm 18. My sister will be 21 on this trip and my parents are early mid 50s but have young blood.

I really really appreciate any help!
    Thanks :)

  2. Grew up in CT, now live in MA, went to college in RI annd spend almost every other weekend in VT skiing during the winter.

That being said, I'd hit up Boston and you can do all the touristy shit. Then find a place to hike in the White Mountains in NH. Im not a hiker so I dont know the good mountains, really. You can also hit Cape Cod and/or Newport, RI... maybe take a ferry over to Block Island?

Theres not much in CT, really, and I dont know ME very well.

  3. I'm from MD. So naturally I'm gonna say visit the baltimore harbor, or D.C., either way, you don't really need much direction... you'll find landmarks everywhere and other things that will keep you busy for at least a day or two. Plus, they're only about 45 mins apart depending on traffic. So as a marylander id say its worth at least a day of your time.

Edit: our blue crab is the truth. Come get a real crab cake. Dead serious...

  4. Stop by Philadelphia. It's such an awesome city if you're in center city during the day. Then hit up Geno's. Or Tony Luke's.

  5. I'd definitely hit up the Cape. My only warning is that if you go as far as New Hampshire, they have some of the strictest laws in the country.

  6. You should definitely make a stop in Atlanta. There's tons to do.

If you go to the city, certain parts people don't mention it much about the city but every 15-20 feet a homeless person might greet you and ask for change. Most of them are wise people if you actually talk to them. To me it's like every homeless person i meet is a different story or lesson at random.

  7. On ya way up north make sure to cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway through the Appalachians, absolutely fucking gorgeous, and great views. Nice long stretch of scenic highway too.
If its not too far out of the way that is...

  8. shit.. maryland doesn't play either. They'll fuck you in the ass with a used syringe for the smallest shit. Its like D.C. is trying to use us as an example.

  9. Definitely considering hitting up Cape Cod. It seems beautiful there.
Will most likely be hitting a few big cities as well. Like Baltimore and Atlanta. Charleston (Will probably spend a few days in the Carolinas)
I was recently in Atlanta a few months ago (September) and I went on an adventure around 9 or 10 am. Just an hours walk around the city. I walked around with a homeless Guy for about 25 Minutes talking to him. And I ended up buying him lunch and a train pass. Didn't hand any cash over but he seemed like a good man. Homeless people everywhere there.

  10. If were talking all of the east coast, I'd make sure to check out the outer banks, nc. And have your route take you over the Chesapeake bay bridge.

And if you have to travel through ct, fuck i95. Take the Merritt parkway. Way more scenic.

  11. Yes. All of the east coast! The final destination will be in the North East.
But I have been on The merit parkway. So many deer right on the side. My grandpa said he saw a moose once.
Atlanta's a pretty awesome city. That's cool you got to really chill with those bums.

  12. 21 year old sister aye? i got the greens if you make it this far north!

  13. dont go to jersey.

  15. You've definitely gotta stop in Philly. Check out South Street. One of the coolest streets ever IMO

  18. Gino's <3

  19. I was gonna help you out too damn shame....

  20. Might be a bit farther than you want to go, but the white mountains in New Hampshire are beautiful. Tons of great scenic hikes. I went there two or three summers ago, and the nice thing is that it didn't seem like a huge tourist attraction. In comparison, there's a nice waterfall trail here in PA, but it gets so ridiculously packed that I can never even enjoy myself there. New Hampshire in general just seemed like a really cool, chill state. Vermont (which is right next to NH) is also great.

If you're family is into wine, the Great Lakes region of New York is real nice.

Virginia Beech is pretty nice. It's a popular place among a lot of people where I live, anyway (I'm in PA).

There are also a few ski resorts around me, and more nicer ones farther north. Obviously not a whole lot to do during the summer, but many places offer rides to the top where you can eat and enjoy a nice view. Some resorts have zip lines too going down the entire mountain.
