Ok so last night I kept waking up because my earrings were making my ears hurt (they were only regular sterling silver crystal studs, and I never had a problem with them before) so I took them out. When I woke up this morning my entire left earlobe and ear was extremely swollen & light pink/purple and theres a lump or something right under my ear towards my neck I have no medical insurance so I can't go to the doc or anything. Any advice? I'm pretty sure its an infection, I just cleaned the whole thing with rubbing alcohol and put some antibiotic cream on... I just took some vicodin & smoke a bowl which helped a little with the pain
Is there any pus coming from the ear? I would keep doing what you're doing, leave the piercing out and see if the swelling goes down in a day. You may lose your piercing, as it should heal. You don't want to sit on a possible infection though, if it gets worse I'd goto a clinic.
Give it time to heal. Every time I would stretch my ears to another gauge they would do the same thing. It is just bruising. -C
Sounds like something that happened to one of my piercings. Dont use alcohol on the ear itself. Alcohol is good to sterilize jewelry, but not for the wound. Keep using soap and water a couple times through the day. Leave the jewelry out until it heals. I doubt you need to go to the doctor. Just let the irritation go down. When this happened to me, after having the same jewelry in for a long time, I had to switch it out for something different in the end. I first tried the same jewelry thinking well I had it in this long....but it swelled up again, same irritation. GL, you'll be fine just take care of it.
i would say it would be worth the trouble of seeing a doctor if it doesnt go away fast. losing your hearing would not be good
