Dying leaves in flowering?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Wykyd_Green, Sep 9, 2011.

  1. Help save my first grow!

84w T3 Prolume Cfl, temps all over the 80s, Ffof soil some ewc on top, watered with ~6.5 ph water with molasses.

My bottom leaves have begun turning yellow at the tips and now its spreading upwards like a firestorm. I havent done anything different since ive had thriving growth, although this morning my timer was fucked up and didnt start.

Im thinking I may have another ph problem or heat issues thou shes been thriving till lately. Another thought, rootbound in my small container.

    Any ideas?

  2. i'm not 100% sure. but if i had to guess i would say ph, or over nute. it is typical for leafs to yellow and die during flowering. but they shouldn't be curling over like that which leads me to believe its your nutes or ph. if i were you i'd wait a couple days for a second opinion. and than if you don't get any other input try to treat those two problems. I've grown alot of plants and never really had too many problems, but now that i think about it when i had nute burn, it usually started with yellow spots, that turned brown. so i guess i would have to guess PH. but i've never even tested my ph, and i've used either spring water, or lake water and never had a problem with it.
Although i couldn't instill confidence i hope this post helped you in some way or another to grow the best plants you possibly could.

  3. That's Phosphorus deficiency. Phosphorus is the nutrient that pot plants use the most during their lives, and your grow doesn't seem to have very much of it.

It's a good idea to give flowering plants nearly as much K as P, since Potassium encourages flower growth.

  4. Sweet more stuff to buy! I've been researching ways to add phosphorus but most ways i see are amending your soil, which would be a little to late for me. Is there any household products I could add to my water to increase phosphorus?

  5. Bone Meal & high-P Guanos are some of the best sources of P, as well as a host of micronutrients. Either can be brewed into a tea for immediate release. For a tight budget, you could get some in bulk. Some stores sell both in bulk for a couple bucks per pound. Separately Google "Garden Center" "Nursery" and "Hydroponics", each with your zip code next to it in the search field. Click on the little map and call the closest & highest rated stores.
