DWC Root Problems

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by iaw, Dec 4, 2021.

  1. I keep getting gunk on my roots. The pic below is one of 4 plants I’m growing and all 4 have it.

There’s no light leak, I have neoprene covers the over my net pots, I’m only using cannazym, remo micro, grow and green planet pro cal.

water temp is around 20C, all components/buckets were bleached and cleaned from my last grow and the hydroton was boiled to clean/sterilize multiple times so I don’t think it’s dust.

    help!

  2. read this article:
7 Facts that will make you rethink sterility in hydroponics.

most people in the states use a product called Garden Friendly Fungicide.

You can also run ~3% hydrogen peroxide for an hour or so to clean off the roots.

going to be hard to keep em at this stage. Get some bennies in there.

  3. Look into a chiller. You cannot pump ambient temperature air into the soup and not expect it to warm up. Ambient being about 75 deg F.

  4. It’s on the roots that aren’t suspended in water.

My Uline buckets have 12L/3.5Gal water in them and I put about 60ml about h2o2 in with my nutes.

aside from water temp I can’t understand why it’s happening. I think I’ll need to put ice in my reservoirs

  5. That temp above the water line is even higher.
If you are serious about DWC you should consider a chiller IMO.
