So after building a new grow cab and getting everything set up, i placed clones in my clay WAY too deep into the water. I seriously had my buckets filled almost to the top of the clay. I work 40 hours m-th so they were in there unsupervised for a couple days before i realized my mistake. They got very droopy, red stems, i added H2O2 to the water and spritzed them with it. Some stems have white powder on them, no idea if its mold or salts from the hydroton ( flushed it until the water was clear before use, sat in ph'd water) From the pictures, what info can you give me... and are the plants recoverable? They have been in this state for a few days. ph is just about 5.5, 18-6 light cycle, fans were installed after drooping occurred, they run all day and night. water temp is lower 60's, air temp is about 68-70. Stupidly i first assumed over nute. dumped nutes and put them in ph'd water, still over filled and submerged roots. Added quarter strength nutes to water yesterday.
how big is your air pump? are you using air stones? because yeah, as you mentioned it doesn't look like they're getting nearly enough oxygen...
Looks like a heavy nute burn as well..are the roots even showing through the net pot yet? if not you might want to drop your water level to just below the bottom of your net pot and do some top feeding for a week or so to get those roots some oxygen and room to grow down toward your water.
I would dump some water out for now below pot level. I would shut off the drip line add only air with stone turned up 50% or more. . Depending on size. I would go easy on nutes for now till perks back up. Mine recovered and continues it's veg path. Leaves slowly raising back. I didn't change the water though. I knew what the prob was. Drowning. It will take some time for recovery. Couple weeks maybe. Lots of fresh air. I even turned off 1 of the cfl 7.5k lumen cfl's for a couple days. Today I noticed she is drinking again. I also have a busy work schedule and often forget, but past mistakes is what helped me. Bty I also noticed, at least in my grow. Keeping the drip off after and staying with air is what made them happy as they continue to grow, but mine are 6 weeks into veg cycle They drink daily fresh tap water 1/2 gal each. I had to work for a couple days and over watered to cover for the time. One accepted it, the other was droopy and dying. Tomorrow is scheduled 2 week feeding and ill go easy for one recovering. 3/4 the amount perhaps of nutes. Best of luck. Hope this helps
I almost forgot. Try not to cut the droopy leaves. Will only make things worse from my trials.. They will raise back up. Also heat may have been a contributing factor in the res. more fresh air fixed that for me.
Air pump is 15 lpm, split between the 2. I dropped the water level 36 hours ago, its about a quarter inch below the net pot, allowing bubbles to splash nutes onto hydroton. They dont look better... but they dont look worse. nute burn wouldnt surprise me either. I was using Age Old Grow... instructions were crap. Nutes have been reduced significantly. Lights are 68w CFLs, about 3 inches from plants. each plant has a fan directly on it, and i have a 350 cfm fan exhausting outside. Cab is only about 25 cubic feet. They still look the same as in the pictures i took 12 hours ago... In your opinion are they recoverable?
Just let the plants tell you. If they aren't getting worse then you might just be ok. It might take a couple days to see an improvement, so just be patient.
I would say the last lady may have a long fight ahead of it. Any mold present? what lumen count are the cfl's? can the fans swing so not fixed on the plant? Or rotate them every so often if fixed fans? how are the roots? Smell? If corrected measures are done early, there is no reason why the plant cannot continue on its merry way. It's a set back though as I lost almost 2 weeks of growth due to recovery process. The other plant is also very happy. Examine them closely daily. For any signs of possible health issues.. Let them heal. I would also suggest lights for 18/6 for veg.
I believe that's powder mildew correct me if I'm wrong somebody. Drop the level to about 1" below the pot. Don't cut any leaves. Anything that stunts growth will take a week or more to recover, I beat my root rot, took almost a week to see new roots growing I cut the rotted mass off when new roots hit the water and its exploded since then took a good week and half to 2 weeks for new growth. Give it time you won't notice any difference for at least a few days once its been corrected
put ur cubes on a single layer of the hydroton and keep ur water barely touching the bottom of the net pot. if u have roots then weave em through and keep the water bout 2" below and watch em explode
So i pronounced them dead and hopped on craigslist to pick up a few more clones (god bless you, Colorado). The new ones came in cubes. I dumped the hydroton with the wilted drooped over plants... and found long beautiful roots... shit. i had already dumped the soil from the new clones so i figured they ought to go into the hydro. now i got a little sentimental for those first 2 plants (first plants i ever had, felt bad for screwing them up) and refilled the 2 pots the new clones came in, and popped my droopy fellas in. Trimmed off the dead stems, one was left with literally 1 fan leaf set. Just checked on them 12 hours later and i couldnt have wished for a better christmas miracle. my hydro clones seem to have adapted well... but those sons of bitches i popped into the soil have recovered... VIGOROUSLY. beyond happy! thanks for everyones help, and merry christmas!
I got it all honed in perfect now. I think I'm going to set up a couple hempy buckets today, as well as switch from panda to reflectix
I ripped out the panda film today and replaced it with Reflectix! box looks MUCH better in my opinion. Way better, loving it. I also added 2 more 68w CFLs. They are "300w equivalent" probably sitting about 12 inches from the plants. plants have small computer fans blowing on them. total of 4 lights. is that too much light for clones?
