DWC 1st attempt

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by TRANCANNA, Nov 13, 2023.

  1. Hi this is my first grow with a DWC setup. Just wondering if this seems like good progress for 2 weeks and 2 days.
Also there are some leaves which seem to be curling does anyone know what this could be. I have my led on the lowest setting (250w) as I thought it could be this. When would be appropriate to turn it upto 600w without stressing the plants. I've also noticed the ppm has not changed in the past 2 weeks. It is at 250ppm is this a good thing? Thanks

  2. 2 weeks 2 days from seed sprout? If so, looks good to me. No curl that I can see.

Is that 250ppm in RO water or tap from faucet?

How far is your light from the plants?
Lowest setting may be ok for a while, depends on the distance from plants.

relax for a bit. It looks good at this point.

  3. Yeah 2 weeks since sprouting.

It is from tap water mixed with nutrients. I read that a decrease in the ppm means your plants are uptaking the nutrients?

The light itself is about 70cm from them I will struggle to move it higher due to the size of the tent

  4. The seedlings will use stored food for the first week or two. At that point they start looking for and using gifted food, nutrients. So the ppm amount doesn’t surprise me. As the plants use water the concentration of nutrients in your bucket will get stronger, raising the ppm and maybe swing your pH. If you add water to your bucket to match the rate the plants are using it (transpiration) the ppm and pH will stay more stable.
When the plants begin to grow at a faster rate than now the ppm will go down. For this reason you must plan to change out your solution periodically.

  5. 70cm distance is plenty for your light. I run 4 100wt LEDs over a 4’x4’ area, 100% at 15-18”.
I can’t make recommendations for your light, if I did, it may be bad advice.
You certainly could try increasing the intensity or lowering it fixture, that something you’ll have to work out.

  6. Okay that makes sense thanks, how often would you swap it out in terms of the solution, and I'm going to start turning it up now they have more nodes on them

  7. How often to change out the solution? My system is different than a DWC so I don’t want to give bad advice. I do mine after 2 weeks for first 2weeks of veg, then weekly through out the grow.
There lots of info on DWC, search YouTube and google. It will be good for you to do some research.

  10. All seems okay atm. Turned the light upto 400w this morning and have came back to see some slight redness of the end of a couple fan leaves. They also appear to be curling down at the end. Have you ever seen this? Apart from that they seem to have boomed in size! 20231114_175636[1].jpg . 20231114_175633[1].jpg 20231114_180351[1].jpg

  11. They sure look nice. Those little red spots may be something left over from prior to us trying to fix things. The leaves may end up with little scars as the leaf continues to grow. At this point I would not be to concerned but would keep an eye out for changes.

  12. Okay I'll leave as it is for now and keep checking, not long before they will be getting topped
