  8. I just got back from a trip to Africa. Went to Durban, S.A. and Swaziland. Met up with some smugglers in the hills of Swaziland and got a whole bunch of Swazi Gold seeds as well as a cross one of the guys made from their Swazi Gold and a landrace Durban strain they had been growing for about 30 years. Definitely looking forward to hunting through these IMG_20180906_003739_710.jpg 20180905_233120.jpg Advil bottle has the Swazi Gold, Match Box has the cross

  10. Very cool! You can buy a strain that has a landrace stamped on it from a breeder that doesnt even originate from that country (kinda confusing) or better yet just go to the country itself and get it from the actual source. You should do a journal, i would definately like to see those grown out

  11. Those are some pretty special seeds. And definitely as close to the real thing as you're ever going to get!

  12. They are flat out the real thing. The Swazi Gold this group was growing had been in the family for qell

  13. This is absolutely 100% real deal land race. The gentlemen I met had been growing this Swazi Gold for well over 5 generations and the Swazi/Durban cross was bred over 30 years ago. IMG_20180821_164104_694.jpg

  14. I hope you do a grow journal. Would love to follow along with that.

  15. Did you find any good contacts in Durban. I live 75km outside Durban in Pietermaritzburg. The stuff here is not great

  16. Just an update to this question for anyone still interested - there are no commercially available genetics for this strain that have not been augmented. I ran tests on every big name suppliers version of the strain and they’re either just reselling each other’s work or they’ve snuck unlisted genetics into the mix. As of now the only way to get actual Durban is to go there or find someone from there. Be aware that anything you buy from Holland has been hybridized out of necessity for the short flowering seasons there. If you live somewhere like I do where you can grow outdoors legally all year round, you will find that even in a green house under perfect conditions with years of experience, you will still be disappointed.

  17. Thank you for the link and this is a perfect example of all of the big name breeders in holland who’s strains I’ve worked with. They’re very talented botanists, but again, none of the seeds you buy from them are 100% pure non-hybridized landrace strains. The Growing season is short and they grow indoors up there. Wonderful facilities to visit if you have the chance. But if you want the genuine article I’m afraid you will be expecting a wolf from a pug. You can probably still breed a really awesome pug, but you’re not getting the wolf back.
Again, thanks for providing that link! Also a great example of how much bs and sloppy record keeping you have to work through if you want to be a stand out breeder in this industry.

Try finding some older people are you if you want some quality landrace strains. In NorCal the guys in the hills around Garberville are holding some primo heirlooms. Or, If you live in Oregon there’s a really friendly old guy up in Clackamas who’s got some awesome old school genetics. Grow your networks and cultivate some new master pieces.
