DUI Bullshit

  1. Sorry guys this doesn't relate to weed, however, perhaps you kind folks can help me out.

What is the legal limit for booze in IL in terms of B.A.C.?

I was under the impression that it was .08 though I heard that was changing.

I got a DUI in 98 and it was .1 at the time, (I aint had no drinks since 2000) but a good friend of mine got pulled over in Chicago over the weekend. He had 2 gin and tonics and was pulled over. He figured he was way under the limit (big mistake) and voluntarily blew a .07.

He then looked at the cop and said,

    "It's under a .08, thats o.k. right?"

The cop put the cuffs on him, laughed, and told him the legal limit had changed 2 years back to a .05.

He was arrested and charged with DUI and had to Ibond himself out of jail, then pay $1500 to his car out of the impound (he was in jail overnight).

He would be glad to show me all of his arrest papers and tickets, and police documentation regarding his arrest. He was charged with DUI and no registration (which he does have at home).

Sorry to sound like a dumbass, but what the fuck is the legal limit for booze in this fucking city?

All the signage I see on the highways and shit says .08 is the limit. I looked online and all I see is .08.

.05 is like half a beer, shit, beer breath will have you blowing a .05!

Does any of this sound like bullshit to anyone else?

Im not advocating that everyone should be get smashed on brown liquor and go zipping around town at 100 mph, but does this sound excessive to anyone else?

Talk about a fucking money maker for the U.S. government.

  2. keep it simple. if your gonna be driving dont be drinking. works every time :p

  3. We all know that polices can do anything and get away with it most of the time.

  4. Uhm, I'm pretty sure it's .08 .... that's what every single sign around me says...I live in suburbs of Chicago.

  5. yeah, i always see .08 on all the signs.

but a DUI is driving under the influence, which means you've had any amount of alcohol to drink and your driving was noticably impaired, which would be .01-.07

DWI is driving while intoxicated, which is when you are over the legal limit of .08

at least i think that's how it works, could be wrong.

  6. Yes, this is sort of what I was thinking. I wonder if he gets a great attorney, perhaps the "cloudiness" regarding this policy willcome into play. He could perhaps say it was exhaustion or something that caused his driving to appear impaired, as he was not legally "drunk". More fucking cash down the drain though. Legal fees for top shelf baristers is usually a bundle.

  7. i've seen lawyer's get people out of a DUI and the people were falling down drunk.

the last one i saw the guy actually pissed all over the back seat of the squad car and got off, just depends on the details of the case and a bunch of other circumstances you have no control over.

best advice is get a good lawyer and hope he knows his way around in a court room.

  8. Yea I know a kid who blew a .19 and got off with a DWAI (driving while ability impaired), which is like .05-.07 I believe

  9. No, th polic just us th two intrchangably, for th sam thing (1 of th kys is brokn, u can guss which 1

  10. didn't get all of that

  11. Dude is missing his E letter key on his computer.

  12. Say this to yourself everytime before you drink. Am I driving anywhere soon? Always works for me. D.U.I.'s sucks though, when I was younger alot of my friends lost their license due to that. Nonetheless its a good law in my opinion maybe because I've been in an accident a couple times.

  13. When my brother got his 3rd DWI he blew a .07. NY's limit is .08 for a driving while under the influence, but a driving while ability impaired is .05 i believe. Usually DUI is higher point that DWAI. Either way, if it registers on the street, usually its higher when they get you to the staion. First DWI's usually always get dropped down to a DWAI, even without a lawyer.
I got a DUI in 98, first ever arrest and plead it down to DWAI. Either way, its costly and stupid. Takes forever to get that off your insurance and drivers license for insurance purposes. It never goes off your record though. Its one of my lifes regrets. Its a huge cash cow for the state too.

Tell your buddy this, DO NOT TELL his insurance company. Keep paying his insurance on time and it will take them awhile to find out if they ever do. At least it will save him money on car insurance for a long time. My insurance company didnt find out about mine for almost 3 years. I was getting discounts for a superior driving record and everything. The only reason they found out was i moved from NY to washington state. I had to change my mailing address and they had to reevaluate my policy. Thats when they found out. If i hadnt moved out west, i could have gotten away with it longer. They dont usually check your license once you've been with them awhile, unless they are given a reason to. So many people call up and turn themselves in, fork that. The worst that will happen if they find out on their own is they will drop your coverage and then you just go get another policy.

  14. yeah in IL it's .08......on the id's it says a safer state with .08. My friend got pulled over there and blew a .38 (almost 5 times the legal limit), and his life was basically ruined for a year and a half. Don't do it...I try not to drive if I've had more than 6 or 7, but around here everything is close together and the cops are pretty lenient/won't pull you over for no reason like they will in Chicago where I'm from.
