I live with my parents and I am guerilla growing marijuana in the hills. Now before you guys say don't do shit at home because your parents will cop the blame, it's decriminalized here. Any-hoo, I was wondering when it comes time to harvest and dry if my chimney will be a suitable place for drying marijuana on racks, I'll clean out all the ash of course so it doesn't taste like shit The problem is my parents tell me the chimney in my bedroom is blocked up? I find this kinda hard to believe because I smoke near my fireplace so it sucks up all the smoke, do you think if I dry it in the chimney it will suck up all the odour? Also one more thing, the strain has master kush in it and is said to have really low odour: https://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/lowlife-auto-hindu-kush/prod_3191.html CHEERS GUYS!
haha, funny place that you mention but I know a fellow patient who has always hung and dried their harvested bud in an un-used fireplace over the years. They have theirs open though so the smell easily escapes. It's a great place in my opinion as long as you know it's not going to get dirty/have things fall in it.
Yeah since it's half blocked I don't think anything is going to fall down too easy. Cheers for the reply man +rep
I'm glad you found my knowledge of using this helpful. The person I know who uses this method has found it to be the best way over the 15+ years of their growing. I hope your drying goes well aswell as your curing. I suggest getting some glass mason jars to store the drying bud to allow it to cure. Making sure to "Burp" the jars each day multiple times while/if it's still wet after drying. Did you plan on trimming before or after the drying process? I find it easier beforehand, to get the majority of leaf off, And then once it's dried I find I look for any leafy bits sticking out and I will use all the good sticky trim for hash making. Goodluck with everything. I'm not expert and I'm just begining to learn in the world of growing but I hope you find my advice useful. Also thanks a bunch for the rep.
Yeah I'm buying some jars online. And yeah definitely going to trim before drying. No worries on the rep
Low odor isn't really an argument here, this is freshly cut cannabis we're talking about. It IS going to smell, and one plant (in my experience) from a bedroom closet with no ventilation in or out and through two doors, stunk up my house all the way to the kitchen downstairs. Buy a carbon filter and hang them in a closet, and get a small oscillating fan and your good to go in terms of mold and smell prevention (make sure the room is relatively dry (<50% humidity)). Furthermore, although its good that you didn't grow under their roof without their permission, bringing the plant into your house potentially puts your bond of trust between you and your parents in jeopardy, which can be difficult to get back depending on the circumstances. Until you get your own place, I recommend not drying in your house and using the aforementioned information.
