Drying question

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Th3eefold, Jul 19, 2020.

  1. I’ve recently chopped down my girls and hung them to dry. I know light ain’t good for the buds during drying. But my question is how much light for how long is ok? I’d like to go inside at least once a day to check on them and make sure stuff is still good.

  2. No problem at all going in once a day.. even twice *morning/night* to see if they're ready or not..
I just finished drying mine.. they're now in jars..
Just don't have direct light on them for long periods of time and you'll be fine.

  3. Light can lower the thc value in the buds. Even just keeping bud that has been long cured and dried in the sun will cause thc damage.

  4. Well I don’t have any direct light on them. But I do have some small lights leaks in my building around door and window.

  5. I have a hard time with as well , I don’t have a drying space so I hang a blanket to block a section of my grow room off. No direct light ever hits them but light leaks through. I’m not sure if it’s effecting thc or not but it’s always good.

  6. Going to check on the buds won’t hurt them. Steady prolonged light will though. Small pinhole leaks are less worrisome and brief exposure to check moisture won’t be measureably(?) harmful

  7. A big cardboard box rigged with a fan would work well, a propagation tent would work well too if you want a space to dry that you can get out and set up and pack away when they are dry.

  8. I’ll try that next time... probably in 3 or 4 weeks. Thanks

  9. Indirect light won't matter at all in any amount.
    777 is the ideal dry
    7 days
    70 degrees
    70% humidity.

After 7 days the buds should be dried to the correct 65% and can be packed in jars with no burping needed as they are dried to the perfect point.

  11. Target temp below 70degrees and I try to keep my humidity high 50’s.

  12. My humidity is staying around 75-80. Should I try to lower it or is this humidity fine? I’m drying in a 8x10 she’s with a small ac and a fan. If I need to lower the humidity in there what would be the best way to do it?

  13. I would definitely lower it with a small dehumidifier. Would say 60 at most and as cool as possible

  14. If you stay where you’re at, I’ll bet you’ll have mold issues.

  15. Any way without a dehumidifier? Something I could do?

  16. Not sure any other way to combat high humidity. Anyway you can think to get it down. If you can’t think of anything, you can always get that dehumidifier I mentioned.

  17. I just started my first drying process and I’m pretty stable at 73 degrees and about 60% humidity. Is that a good range?

  18. Yea you should spend the money on a decent dehumidifier. If you wanna try Damprid it might help a little bit and they sell it at Walmart and I’ve seen it in grocery stores.

  19. Possibly increase airflow?
