Drying problems

  1. Guys are f***** up. It got cold here so I used my space heater overnight that is the only I have. And because of the fans sucking that heat into my tent my Bud's over dried. If I would have not used the heater it wouldn't have happened they would have been perfect the way it was going but I f***** up like I said. The stem still aren't snapping but the buds are really dry feeling like the outsides are crumbly. What can I do? I was thinking about putting them in the jars with a wet napkin damp neck and I mean I'm wondering if I should close the jar with lid or leave it open overnight or something? I ordered Boveda packs but they won't be here till Friday or Saturday I think and they're the 58% dammit it was what I had in the Box the rest of it is still fine but I am cutting it today. Damn it man from now on I will definitely had a different drying area I'm so pissed

  2. Sounds like the outside of the buds got dry from the unexpected temperature increase. If the temp was only elevated for a short time (not days), then the internal moisture of the buds should still be ok. The moisutre difference between the inside and outside of the buds will equalize over time. Jar it up with a hygrometer in the jar, wait 24 hours and see what the hygrometer says the humidity is. Base your next move from there.

  4. I know flower is your thing but you can always make concentrates as well. Just throwing that out there. IOW you still have options

  5. What do you guys do with stems and stalks? I know throw them away but I live in an illegal state and im paranoid just to put them in the trash

  6. Put the buds as is in your jars or airtight container. Since the stems aren’t snapping the moisture in the interior of the bud will move via capillary action out to the drier portions of your buds. In a day or so they will not feel as crispy. From there you can manage your drying and cure per your normal plan.
Regarding growroom trash. When it was illegal for me, my favorite method was to cut everything small enough to fit into fast food bags and put it in the restaurant parking lot trash cans. Make it look authorized.

  9. Toss it all into a air snug container overnight. I use a new clean trashcan to slow my dry as local conditions are always low humidity. It'll equalize overnight and you'll know by morning where you stand.

  10. Good info above.
Big tote . Put all the plant matter in it . As you said wet paper towel . Seal it . Stir it as needed .
Like a humidor . I like those walk in humidors . Cigars the good ones paying 95 each for the good ones .

  11. i already jarred mine sorry to hear that just trim and jar asap dont try adding water or anything they should be ok the outside is always crumbly lesson learned never ever put a heater in your drying area ever its is better for them to freeze than over dry the smell may come back after a while did you bother weighing your haul this run was i close at 8oz? my 3 plants dried to only 6 oz total i guess thats life

  14. I hear you but I live a block from the cop station in a neighborhood

  15. Update guys. Putting it all in jars gave it back it's moisture content. It's been 24 hours. I opened all the jars and the moisture content there pretty close to dry maybe but stems are a little bendy. The humidity is around 53 average on 7 jars except 1 is 54 and 1 is 49.

The problem is my room humidity is high 30's very low 40's there is fire warning outside weeks now. Im getting 62 boveda packs but not until Saturday so I'm scared to leave it out as it will try to dry too quickly with the humidity I feel but also don't know what to do to raise the humidity in the jars.

Update on the plants they have to be jarred due before the same problem gets too much but aren't dry either but some is safe to continue on the plant drying.
I think I have it under control as long as I stay on top of it but any advice im very glad to hear

  16. you may see the % rise a little more.
53% average moisture is my lowest threshold. Once I’m stabilized between 58-62% I close up the containers & check/burb weekly. For me I would burp them once a day until you get your moisture packs. Keep a close eye on the humidity in the jars.

It’s not crying time yet. It’s no where near turning to crumbs or slime.

  17. just leave it in the jars and open them and either shake it our dump it out and put it back in i have the exact thing going on they will be fine dont worry about mold or anything just make sure to burp a few times a day i have done this plenty of times if they are really that dry then just burp until the packs come

  18. how big are the jars you say you have 7? is there an ounce in each or did you not weigh them yet?

  19. Ok thanks

  20. I have a rough estimate on weight and it's right at 5 ounces. That's from the 1 plant. Then I still have around an oz of the same plants still drying. The jars are quart but the reason I used them was cause of being so dry at the moment I wanted to do my best not to break the biggest buds. Since the moisture went back into the buds and their not so fragile I was able to dump them out like you described and rearrange and now I have that amount in 4 jars probably 3/4 full. So anyway about 5 oz then another 1 still drying. I probably have around 6 on the other 1 I started putting what had to be put into jars but still am drying the rest of it too and I smoked in between 1/2 and 3/4 oz so total estimate is around 13 ounces and that's a really good estimate subtracting extra from my original estimate but I was thinking I was only going to get a half pound total after the way the buds were losing weight and not being as hard as I originally thought. Estimating by what I have dried and etc.. I'm thinking 12 or 13 now though and before I started drying I said I would probably clear a pound or a little more but im not doing as bas as I thought and it's actually turning out really good for me.
