Drying Odor Security..PLEASE HELP!

    Someone PLEASE read this whole thing! I know it's a little long but I've need some help desperately.

    Need to know a few things. My grows been successful so far, got around 2 weeks left of the grow before it's chop chop. I'm drying in my parent's attic and hoping the smell wont be bad enough to creep downstairs, through the insulation. It's a 2.5 foot tall plant, thinking I'll have anywhere from 21-42 dried grams...really hard for me to tell cause it's my first grow but that's just to give you an idea.

    I've heard people say it depends on the strain, it's general odor, and potency, which I believe could be very likely true. Many people hope to not get that "grassy" smell, but it'd actually be very convenient for me while drying for stealth purposes. What have you blades done "wrong" to end up with buds drying that smell like this?

    Should I be able to tell generally how much it will stink by giving her a whiff 1-2 days before harvest (while she's still alive and well), or do you really only know once you chop it down and wait a few hours? I've heard it can be a pretty mild to extreme smell, but I'm not sure when you can make the call on that general odor. If I get caught, I'm fucked. I'd rather ditch the weed than take a chance with over-stinky bud and getting in the trouble sadly, even though that may seem hard to comprehend for those of you who grow and dry in your own homes.

    If I give it a watering with vanilla extract the day before harvest (which I've read can flavour the bud's smoke and change their smell some), will it mask the distinct bud stink, or will it only add a vanilla-like smell ontop of it? Really just looking for any info regarding drying and odor/odor control.

    Man, odor will definitely be an issue, It's going to smell no doubt, what I did when the odor got real bad was put one of them fabric softener dryer sheets on the air filter to the ac and that helped. With it being in the Attick I'm not too sure if the smell will travel downward, light some candles also Good luck and congrats!

    Here is an option...

    Buy one of these fans

    Make one of these filters

    Put all contents into a bin/container what have you, create an intake hole and put the filter on the outtake hole. Is an outtake hole a thing? Lol, no matter.

    Super easy, super effective, super quiet.

    It's not the quickest solution and does require a small amount of time, but it should work.

    Your pouring alcohol into your feeding schedule before harvest? Could you explain that some more?

    I've heard you can dilute it (like a half tsp/gal) if you don't water your plant for 3-4 days and it's really thirsty it takes up the water (along with the vanilla extract) right up into it's leaves,stems, and buds to flavour the smell and smoke..I've heard you can try this from more than 2 or 3 sources on GrassCity...

    if you got a carbon filter in your grow area just dry in that area with the light off thats how i do it and you cant smell nething

    You can pour Blackstrap Unsulphured Molasses into some water and feed it that, that will affect that taste. Alcohol can not be good for the soil, hide it in a bathroom or something and keep a negative pressure and a lock on the door.

    You shouldn't be growing or drying in your parents' house without their explicit permission... :cool:

    I know. I'm only going against my parents right now cause I have nowhere else. I wouldn't do this if I had another viable place to do so.

    It really is strain dependent, any diesel REEKS - it's extremely hard to work with without a carbon filter. A few grams can literally stink up an entire room, and if you have central A/C with a air exchange it will creep throughout the house.

    A strain like Northern lights, you have to stick your nose completely into the bud to actually smell it. The one I've got is 5 weeks in flower and when I have to put it inside due to the 5C or 40F temperatures over night - you can smell it... it's noticeable but not that much of a potent smell and doesn't travel far. Could only smell it maybe 5ft from the plant.

    You don't get it. You acknowledge it's wrong but you rationalize it away. Even better: if it's wrong don't do it.

    man your parents raise you and your going to get them put in jail thats fucked up be a man and get your own place so if you get caught your the only one going to jail ps the will loose there house money in the bank everything so you can smoke thats fucked up man up move out

    He's asking for advice not a lecture about morals, I'm sure you have done shit that could get other people in shit too. Give the guy a break, he's trying to mask odor so no one gets caught.

    its there home, and its happening in their home....

    Im living with my uncle, he smokes alot, so the whole house smeels like bud, he does nothing to try and cover it up. has buds laying around. any way im growing and no one knows. if he did find out he would not care but he doesnot know i smoke

    If someone was murdered in their home that does not make them liable because its their home, if he gets caught and fesses up would anything happen to the rents?
