Drying and curing

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Flannigan, Oct 26, 2023.

  1. I'm planning to harvest on Halloween. I never used boveda packs but im going to this round. I'm ordering the 1 oz size. If I put for example a quarter pound or 4 oz in a big jar im guessing that I put 4 of the 1 oz size boveda packs inside the jar spread out? Thanks

  3. I don't know much but I thought you dry and trim then jar and put the packs in. I am going to have some big jars that hold a lot. When I said 1/4 pound I was using an example of 1/4 pound in a jar after trim and dry put my buds in the jar then put packs in there and burp each day but the packs im buying are only for curing 1 oz. So if I had 4 oz in a jar I am guessing that I will need 4 boveda packs spread out in the jar is what im asking?

  4. Never needed boveda before, but you’d want to make sure it’s 60-65% humidity to jar and cure. I’d use boveda after they are ready in this stage

  5. After my buds are dry now im confused because I haven't ever used them either. Tell me what you do please

  6. Jar and burp until humidity is 60-65% then start cureing. After the initial dry

  8. I have always in the past gotten rid of everything so quickly I didn't keep anything really long enough to cure little lone long range. I have some studying to do

  9. They make larger sizes if U want. a 1 gal glass jar & a 1lb boveda # 67 here, however I do not add the boveda to green weed, save it for when your weed is closer to 63% rh & the bovedas will last longer.

  10. Thanks man. I think I'll going to bust a pound and was thinking about#67 truthfully. We'll see what happens. And yes just to clarify I was talking about after getting it close to 60 plus percent. I guess what you guys are saying is dry it get close to 60 plus humidity burping then after all that use the boveda? Is that right?

I use the size 8 Boveda pack in 58% RH for 1 quart jars holding 1 ounce. I jar when I reach around 60% RH. First, I take a sample branch. Place it in one of my jars with a hygrometer. Give it an hour to equalize then check the meter. When it is at or around 60% RH. I strip the branches and everything goes into the curing jars. I burp daily for the first few days then every 3 days for around 2 weeks. I also do random jar checks using a hygrometer. Mostly quart jars here. One pint and two 1/2 gallon jars.
I use the same size 8 packs for everything. Like I said I try to get around 60%RH prior to jarring. 20231025_233930.jpg

  14. What to do if your buds are dry but humidity isn't low or high enough?

  15. In my home they usually dry within 6-7 days. If I want to slow it down I run a small humidifier. If I need to speed it up I run a dehumidifier. If you jar too soon and the humidity of the jarred bud goes over 65%. Remove them from the jar and let them dry for a few more hours. Then test your bud once you jar them again with a hygrometer inside the jar. Do NOT over dry them. You cannot cure bud dried under 55%.

  16. Supposedly those boveda type bags will add humidity if needed as well as dry your weed??? I feel they do a better job of maintaining rh.

  17. I don't believe they increase or reduce RH very much, maybe 1% RH in a sealed jar. They just help to maintain the RH you started with.
