Guys, I have a bit of an issue. I chopped down my plant yesterday and my girlfriend booked us a surprise vacation that will overlap with my drying. I would have to leave the plant unattended for 6 days with a minimum 11 day dry time. I plan on doing the 60/60 method and hung the entire plant. The plant has a pretty dense canopy (see photo). Worst case, I can have a friend come and trim/cure the nugs but that is something I have been looking forward to for the past 3 months and he has no experience with growing or trimming. Please advise what you would do in this situation. Thanks.
just let it hang and dry like that, trim and jar with moisture packs (like Boveda) when u get back. enjoy the trip.
I would make sure there is air movement in the room. I normally have a fan in the room to circulate, but never directly to the buds. I would add a small light. I normally remove the larger fan leaves, but since you are gone for a while, I'd leave them on; leave the entire plant hang as is. Looks like a nice plant, gratz btw.
NO NO NO never point a fan at them while they dry and it is WAY WAY better to under dry than OVERDRY keep that room as cold and moist as possible 50 degrees even if you can or you may come home to a pound of HAY and dont trust anyone to trim it THATS my 2 cents after 6 days mine are normally about dry never went past 7 before i jarred them GOOD luck
Hey Trojan! Do you know what is the science with leaving a small light? I've red the same from Ed Rosenthal but never knew why, since most of the things I am hearing or reading would suggest to keep in the dark to keep the plant cells alive as long as possible. Thanks again if you can * enlighten me * hehe!
To prevent mold (a little). I sometimes flash my crop with UVC when they hang, just for 30 min; twice, on day one and day two.
Almost assuredly no. Fill a jar 3/4 filled and add a hygrometer and hope for 65 to 62 percent humidity after 7 to 10 days. Any thing above 58 percent is still pretty good though.
Not possible. I'm talking about the humidity in the jars and buds not the room humidity. I'm certain there is some moisture left under a sealed jar. Put a hygrometer in a jar with buds and find out
If your temps are between 18c to 25c(max not ideal), and the humidity is between 45% and 65, good air flow, hanging the plants, and there well spaced out, you should be fine. If the humidity is too low, the buds will dry uneven and this results in a low quality crop, you want the buds to dry slow over 7-10 days for good results.
