Authorities have seized a United Parcel Service package shipped to a fictitious address in Booneville that contained 30 pounds of compressed marijuana.

"It started out with notification from an officer in Harlingen, Texas," said Tippah County Sheriff James Page. "He notified me that their dog had hit on a 36-pound package that was being processed to ship."

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and several other agencies attempted to identify where the package was being delivered.

"It was a fictitious address," said Page. "We never could come up with anything."

The MBN obtained a warrant last week to search the package at the Booneville UPS.

"We decided to go ahead and take it off the street," said Page.

No arrests have been made, and the case is still under investigation.
