Hey organic folks... I've got a droopy Kosher Kush that has me puzzled. This is my first organic grow. I decided I wanted to go simple, clean, and tasty. I started the seeds in a peat pot and then transplanted the pots into Roots Organic Potting Soil. All went great for the first 2-3 weeks, but for the past week or so, my Kosher Kush's growth has slowed and it's been very droopy. Temps have been between 77-82 degrees with a humidity of around 40%. I'm growing under CFL's as I've done for the past 4-5 grows. I'm using RO water with a ph of 6.8. I'm not over watering, so that's out as a cause. The Kosher Kush has been a very deep green throughout the grow and I've has some spotting on the lower fan leaves. I'm wondering if the Roots Organic is too hot (as in nute burn). Please have a look at the images and let me know what y'all think. BTW, the plant to the left is OG and the one to the right is Papaya. Both have been raised the same as the Kosher Kush, but they are about 2 weeks behind the Kosher. Thoughts?
There all need to be transplanted to larger pots, especially the Koshner. The Koshner also looks like it is experiencing a minor calcium deficiency....
Yeah I'd say a transplant will do them all very well. I usually move out of solo cups by the time I get my second set of real nodes. I'd also recommend taking a look at mixing your own soil for use in a month or so. The quality/consistency you can achieve mixing your own (for wayyy less $) is worth having to wait a month for the nutrients to cycle. Take a look at this thread: http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/1116550-easy-organic-soil-mix-beginners.html
My kosher doesnt look like that Definitely a transplant, she's certainly not a beginner strain man as she's VERY finicky about nutrients. You should also look into topping her, get ready for the stretch of a life time
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm sensing a pattern here... Transplant? I'll give it a try. Nick Nack: I've got a batch of soil cooking right now, it's based off of Subcool's soil recipe. A couple more weeks and it'll be ready to use. Kesey: Stretch of a lifetime? Not what I want to hear.(limited headroom). Thanks for the warning.
Definitely wanna start pinching her down asap. She's well over doubling on the stretch. Theres 2 pheno's. One smells sweet, one smells like FUNKKKK. I kept the funky one. The sweet one has better lookin buds though and a VERY high calyx to leaf ratio, easy to trim for sure.
Thanks again everybody, for the feedback. Y'all were right on the money with the transplant advice. I've never had root growth like I'm getting from these ladies. The new pots are about triple the solo cup size and should hold them until my amended soil is ready. Kesey: Right now she smells kinda minty. I don't know what she's gonna smell like in bloom, but I know she's gonna smell A LOT!
Already have a carbon scrubber. This grow will be fun/stinky! I haven't had a stinky grow since I grew some Cheese. Now THAT stuff is stinky! When harvested it smelled like the strongest cheese you could imagine. After a couple of months of curing it had mellowed to a cheese/merlot wine smell. It was awesome.
Amend that soil if you want to be able to flower in it, I have done it with and without amending and Roots is crab. Get your hands on some EWC and Kelp meal to boost your a lot.
Already amended my friend... Kelp Meal, EWC, Bat Guano, Humus, Azomite, Lime, Epsom, Bone Meal, Blood Meal, and I'm still looking for some Neem Meal. It's been cooking for about 3 weeks now, and should be ready for my next transplant. BTW, the recent transplant worked like a charm, all 3 plants are happy as can be and back on track. My biggest concern now is stretch. I think I'll have to turn them to flower sooner than I usually do as my grow space is under 5 feet tall. Damn this is FUN!(It's been about 6 months since I harvested my last grow) Thanks again to everyone for the input, I'm sure I'll need more during the flowering stage.
A quick update... The ladies are doing pretty well at 6.5 weeks after germination. I'm going to do a final transplant into pots that are roughly 4 gallons. This final transplant will also put the plants into my amended soil, which has been cooking for a little over a month. Fingers crossed! From left to right on the attached image of all 3 girls are: Afghan Kush, Kosher Kush, and Papaya.(I mistakenly said in my first post that the Afghan was an OG... My bad) The close up shot is the Kosher Kush. I'm hoping for great things from that lady. Probably gonna go 12/12 in two more weeks, which puts me at early February for harvest. Damn... that's a LONG time away. As always, thoughts, suggestions, and comments are always welcome. Peace.
She's developing a K deficiency, as she's prone to do I'm finding...foliar feed with seaweed/kelp and supplement it in the soil a couple weeks after that.
Even considering the interveinal chlorosis and necrotic spotting? Look at the leaf margins. Kosher...some of my favorite smoke...but a bitch to grow!
I think your going to see a big difference in plant health and growth once you get them into those 4 gallon pots with the amended soil....
