Drooping Top Leaves

  1. I seem to be coming to the sick plants area too much these days...

But I noticed something today when I checked in on my plants, and the topmost set of leaves on Honey are drooping down substantially. I have no idea what could have caused this, as I haven't changed my watering schedule at all since I did my last flush several weeks ago, I haven't been using any nutes yet, and Iggy hasn't shown any sign of this problem.

I thought at first that it might be a problem of heat, so I moved Honey down about a half an inch, but I don't know if that's enough, or even if that's what was causing the problem. I decided to check here before I did anything drastic, to get other people's opinions on what's happening.

Here's a shot of Honey's latest problem area.

And here's a different angle of the same spot.

    Any ideas?

  2. Oh and I forgot to mention, the box has been running between 70 and 80 degrees. The top of the plant that's having this problem was very close to the lights, which is why I thought that it might be a heat issue.

  3. what brand of soil

    I see a calcium def

complete a soil runoff PH test.......
with PH corrected water (6.5-6.8PH for soil ) pour enough water in the pots so the water runs out the bottom of the pot ...collect & test the PH of this runoff water....post both the watering going in the pots and the runoff ph

  4. I'll do the runoff test later tonight, but I haven't been able to find anything saying what to do to fix the calcium problem, short of full on nutrient mixes yet. I'll look around more later, when I have more time.

  5. correcting the ph maybe the issue??? we wont know till you post it ,

check your ferts to see if it contains micro nutes eg: calcium, iron, magnesium, copper etc etc etc

  6. OK, initial soil pH=6.5 or so (I don't have great equipment yet, next paycheck hopefully)

    Water pH=7

OK, runoff test complete, pH reading again between 6 and 6.5. So I don't think that the pH is the problem this time around.

I forgot to mention earlier, I'm using creekside topsoil.

And the only ferts I have in my house right now is a 10-15-10 mixture that I'd intended to use for flowering. I haven't used any nutes or ferts for the plants since my nute-burn incident a little over a month ago.

  7. start feeding with this , it contains all the micro nutes aswell & will fix the calcium def

    Vegatative cycle fertilizer
Miracle-Gro® Water Soluble All Purpose Plant Food (they make several fertilizers be sure its this one)

    Fertilizer Analysis: 24-8-16 with micronutrients
2 level "Teaspoons" per gallon of water, (reduce this by 50% first time application) use this as your water, feed every other watering till flowering

  8. I just ordered it. So you're saying 1 teaspoon per gallon for the first feeding?

  9. Not much of an update, but since I have to wait for the nute solution you recommended to get here I figured I'd take another picture so you could check up.

You can see that her leaves are yellowing from the center outwards, and are still drooping. Some of the drooping I'm sure is related to the runoff test I did, but the discoloration is new. This should still be cleared up by the nute solution, right?

  10. that discoloration at the top is generally from temp swings, are you getting colder at nite or have the plants grown closer to the lites , so that when they switch off its cooler on the top leaves

  11. It's actually been running a bit warm in that box. The plants are still vegging, so the lights don't shut off. I can certainly move the plant lower if I have to though.

On a completely different note, I watched your cloning video and followed the instructions. My only question about that is if you think it'd be OK to use a Jiffy-7 until the clones root, or if you think that it's a bad idea. Either way, I was extremely impressed with the video, as I am with all aspects of your website.
