Drooping plants

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by johnapeelsed, Dec 26, 2019.

  1. Hey everyone I’m growing five plants(all bag seed) in a 4x4 with two hlg 260w qb v1 boards both 3k. Lights are 3.6feet away

I’m in 3 gal fabric pots with FF happy frog. I’m using FF trio bottles nutes and general hydro cal mag.

There all 5 weeks into veg and for two weeks now they all look sad and droopy. I know I’m not over watering as I’m only watering twice/three times a week when pots are dry and light.
Temp is 73/75 day and 61 and night with humidity at 40%.

I just can’t seem to perk them back up, I’ve only used the nutes lightly about twice so far in the 5 weeks of growth so not sure if they are hungry, or if the temps and humidity are off. Also not sure if the seeds all being random bag seed means shit genetics any help would be awesome

  2. I'm not a very experienced grower so others may chime in. My plants looked similar and my te.ps were similar, I tried all sorts of things but in the end it was low humidity. Try to raise it up to 55-65 and in a day or so they should look better.

Check out a VPD chart and see. With your temps/humidity your VPD is very high and may be causing this issue if other stuff is in point

  3. Hey thanks for your reply, what is VPD?

  4. Its Vapor Pressure Deficit
I never knew what it was either until few weeks ago. Basically its difference between inside leaf pressure and outside environment air pressure.
Yours is high so its causing the plants to transpire water at a very high rate, too high and its causing a lot of stress on the plants. You need to raise humidity but keep the temps the same and the VPD will come down. Keep it at .8 to 1.1 in vegging phase and plants will be happy.

  5. The above is flower chart so the green area is the target for flower. You want to keep it lower in veg so .8 to 1.1 is good.
Your VPD at 75F 40 RH is about 1.7 way too high. I bought a humidifier and keep wet towels and bucket of water in my tent. I'm at about 75F and 62%RH and my plants look better than they ever have.

  6. Thank you for the info, definitely will try and get my rh up

Unrelated question I’m using the ff trio for nutes and they are old bottles form last years grow...might be dumb but to bottled nutes go bad?

  7. Happy to help a fellow gardener.

I'm not experienced enough to know the answer to your 2nd question. Maybe somebody else can chime.

  8. I wouldn’t think anything would go bad. Look for an expiry date or best before.

Otherwise, just make sure you shake it real good!

  9. Your soil look really dry. How do your plants look the morning after you water? Maybe your underwatering.

  10. If your issue is low humidity, you can use a spray bottle with distilled water and mist your plants to raise the humidity.

  11. when you do give them water how much are you giving each plant?

  12. I give them 2 solo cups of water for n the evening every 2-3 days or when dry

  13. I just noticed your in 3 gallon pots, I believe your underwatering. Leaves will also droop and close up like that to conserve moisture. I'd saturate one pot until you get run off and note the difference. It may take a few days, 2-4 to see improvement. Try to remember what that pot weights when saturated.

  15. Thanks for the input, makes sense that I am underwatering now that I look into it more, I’ve had over watering problems in the past so I’ve been trying not to over water...funny now I’m not giving enough

  16. Post a picture of them after they perk up. They look good other than being thirsty.
