Use your head. I love figuring out stuff on my own, gives a bigger sense of accomplishment. I just got a new job as a dockhand and sometimes I have to wing stuff because we'll get so rushed I'll be the only guy helping customers. If you make a mistake with something important you may feel inclined to ask questions and not do it yourself, but when it's little stuff that you think you can handle it's fun to take initiative.
