Drip Irrigation ?

  1. Wondering if this would be ok to use for a drip irrigation system:

1cm diameter hose run 2 inches down in soil (parallel to soil surface) with pinholes along the entire length (How many holes should i put?) and a container at each end to hold water (about 2 cups each for 4 cups) i have to go away for a week and a half and would also like a more convenient way to water. This is known as trickle irrigation and is used for lawns or golf greens and i thought it might also work here. My soil is just plain Scotts potting soil. Anybody see potential problems with this?
