Dried up DWC Bucket 5 weeks flowering

  1. Hi guys. I would like to shear a little story with the community for educational value. I have been growing out what was an amazing looking Rocklock from DNA genetics. My work life became very hectic and I did not have much time to tend to my plants. They were drinking a little less then a gallon of water a day and I fill the bucket up 3.5 gallons every water change.

Ok I will get to the point. I left the plant alone for 2 and 1/2 days without checking up on it. I go into my growroom to check up on the progress of my plant to see the entire thing is wilted over. The plant probably had a 4 foot diameter and was over 5 ft tall. A streak of pure terror rushes through my body. When I say the plant wilted over I mean the branches are creased in half everywhere. All of them had creased over because the weight of the bud on the plant was too great in its weakened state. The plant was so dehydrated even the main stalk at the base of the plant appeared to have shrunk down in size. The enter plant looks like its about 1/8 of its former self.

I drop to my knees and carefully pop open the lid of the bucket and a rush of heat exits the bucket. Even warmer then the already warm temperature of the grow room, and this aroma billowed out that smelled like what I would imagine cooking roots smell like.

I instantly pH some water with no nutes and fill the res up to the top. I take a spool of twist tie wire and tie up every branch i can salvage. I lost some but managed to tie up all of the main ones.

After I'm done doing what I can, I am just sitting there hoping and praying for the best.

Here is a rundown of what went on for the next week.

Day 1: the plant drinks water but at a very slow rate, grow room and roots still have that cooked smell to them

Day 2: Still drinking very little water, no growth and hairs are beginning to turn red.

Day 3: Plant begins drinking more water still has the cooked smell but not as strong. Hairs still turning red.

Day 4: Still a little cooked smell, I have now went back to my regular flowering formula. No growth, and all hairs have now turned red.

Day 5: Little to no cooked smell anymore, still no scent to the bud, hairs turning red, little bit of possible growth.

Day 6: Starting to smell like budding marijuana again. A few white hairs here and there but noting substantial. Nutrient/water consumption is almost back to normal.

Day 7: New white hairs all over, seems to be growing again, no cooked root smell... Woohoo I think I made it into the clear!!!

Figured I would shear this story in case anyone neglects their bubble buckets and finds themselves in the same situation I was in.. Enjoy and happy growing!!!

  2. Wow nice job bringing it back from the brink of death, sounds like you did everything that could be done.

Perhaps a small emergency res. could help in those situations.

I need to make one myself, I'm in early veg and it drinks nearly a 1/4 gallon a day.

Can't imagine what its like on the 5th week of flower!

    Gots to be prepared.
