Dr lux meter@ MQ-500 meter

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Clearsky, Jun 2, 2021.

  1. I got my MQ-500 par meter today, I have be using the Dr lux meter for adjusting my light intensity for my plants, with plant in flower I'm running 70,000+ with my Dr lux meter, so I checked it with my MQ-500 and the reading was 1750 ppfd or par way to high without using CO2. The lights I run are the QB-288-301H with the 660 far red V-3. So after setting my lights at 1000 par with my MQ-500 meter I checked the light with my Dr lux meter and the reading was 55,000 so if you are running the new QB and have a Dr lux meter 55,000 is 1000 par with the MQ-500 meter. So this might help some of you as far as how much power you want to give your plants. I will see in a few days if my plants are happier under 1000 par instead of 1750 par.

  2. I run mine at around 80K straight under the same LED's as you.
I think the more light the heavier the yield. I pull 3 - or + lbs every cut off 4 plants in pure hydro.
This grow here, I'm only running 3 panels in a 5x5x6.5 tent.
720 watts vs 960 watts. Plants are about the same so far, all seems normal.
I just went 12/12 today, so we will see how the cut is with one less panel.

  3. My guess is you will still yield good, I got a total of 1300 watts in my 5x5 tent 2- 350 and 1- 600 from what I have read if you don't have CO2 it's a waste of light pass 1000 ppfd but if you have CO2 you can push it up to 1500 par. I'll see how my plant reacts to the 1000 par because I was giving her 1750

  4. I'm a cherry 770769 Lu to get my 1000 ppfd for U-mol

I'm cheap and went here Convert Lumens to PPF - Online Calculator | Waveform Lighting

    good luck

  5. This is my project, the plant is 19 days in flower in this picture, in a 20 gallon air pot with my soil mixture. My goal is to try and get 3 lbs from her. But if not it's the last plant I will grow like this. Better off to just do 6 autos in 3 gallon planter bags and fill the tent easy and get close to couple of lbs with autos.

  6. The studies I have seen show plants can't even "process" light over 1000 par. With 650 to 750 being optimum for artificial. Probably about 55,000 lux with most qb's at 18 inches, depending on the wattage.

  7. 3lbs in a 5x5 without Co2 is a great number. I am getting that but i have to do a lot to my space.

  8. Well under 1000 par the leaves are praying so that's a good sign, and cut lights back that were running 1750 par so I'm happy with meter no guessing anymore.
