  3. Of course mainstream rap (and mainstream anything) sucks. It's not designed for artistic expression, it's designed to get boring white girls to download the song, shake their asses to it for a while, and then next week move on to the next big thing.

  7. FIXED

what happened to hip-hop is so sad. I kno its still alive on the underground, but hip hop needs to be back in the mainstream and not be fucking lame.

fuck u guys look what happened to Black music man...R&B dead, Hip-hop dead, Soul dead, Funk dead

    fuck the music industry

  8. how hip hop dead if Wu Tang is forever?

  9. the more recent wu shit has been really good compared to how stale it was getting in early-mid 00s.

  10. There's plenty of good hip hop out there. Unfortunately it's mostly underground, but there are tons of underground artists. I love going to concerts, the great thing about living in chicago is that if I want to, there are multiple hip hop concerts I can go to every week.

The funny thing about "the state of hiphop" is that I've heard that hip hop is dead/dieing for over 20 years now. I remember getting into a heated argument with concert promoter in the mid 90's who said "rap was dead, and wont be around in another 10 years...." 20 years later it's still going strong.

In the 90's you had old hip hop heads from the 80's complaining that rap was dead. In the late 90's you had hip hop heads from the early 90's saying rap is dead. in the 2000's..... you get my point.

I think it all depends on when you get hooked on a genre. To some one who fell in love with hip hop in the 80's, the 80s hiphop will always be the best. To some one who fell in love with rap in the 90's then that hiphop will always be the best.
