Recipe Double saucing?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by tedmarx38, Jan 1, 2024.

  1. I make THC capsules with coconut oil. Has anyone tried to increase potency by putting the oil through two cycles? By this I mean creating a batch of oil as usual, but then putting another batch of bud in the oven to decarb followed by infusing in the original oil. Seems like it would work but I’m not sure if there’s an upper limit to how much THC the oil can absorb. Thanks.

  2. @PsychedelicSam did something similar, but with alcohol. He would rinse half his bud and then use the same alcohol to rinse the other half. I think it's worth a try with your oil.

  3. You'll eventually reach a point of diminishing returns with most of the oil trapped in the pressed out weed. Just make unstrained paste to start with as that is as good as you can get from any starting material. Use Coconut oil as it hits fastest but can have laxative effects in large amounts so limit amount used. Lecithin can double the effects so go heavy handed on it.
    Decarb buds 240 F for 40 minutes
    Grind to dust
5 grams of decarbed bud dust
    1 tablespoon Coconut oil
    1 teaspoon Liquid lecithin
    Heat 220 F for 20 minutes.
    Fills 30 #0 capsules.
For baking blend with warm liquid butter, your cookies call for.

  4. When I want stronger caps I use RSO with 10% lecithin and an equal amount MCT. Sometimes for pain or just a really good high I might take two. Been tempted to try three but haven't.

  5. Thanks. What’s rso and mct? Still somewhat new to this.

  6. RSO is Rick Simpson Oil. He's the guy that came up with it as a treatment for cancer. It's the oil that is extracted (by his method) from the plants. People with labs can produce pure oil. The weed is washed with a solvent, usually Ever Clear. The wash is then distilled, or the alcohol is just evaporated off. There are many different ways to extract. My preference is a quick wash. If you want information on how to do it just let me know.

MCT (Medium-chain triglycerides) is an extract from coconut oil, don't use the soy bean MCT, it's not good for you. MCT is great because it carries the THC directly to your liver where it is converted to (I can't remember if it's 10 or 11) hydroxy. THC becomes about 20 times as strong and last about 5 times as long. That happens with any edible. THIS IS WHERE PEOPLE OVERDOSE. Just start easy, with low doses and build up. And remember that edibles (or caps) take anywhere from a half an hour to an hour or more to take effect. People get impatient and eat another to soon and end up on the bath room floor with their head hanging in the toilet.

I hope this answers your question.

  7. I have to add to my last post. Most edibles don't send the THC to directly to your liver. They just just coconut oil. Not quite the same as MCT, but good.

  8. I like your post but there is no exit ramp from the stomach leading directly to the liver. It still goes thru digestion/reabsorption & everyone's metabolism is different. It usually takes me at least 2-3 hrs (for a large body) to get the full effect & I use mct, lecithin as well. :confused_2:

  9. That's what some of the med people are saying. That's all I know. I'll spend some time this evening to chase it down.

  10. it's all good, don't go to any trouble for me. I knew what you meant.

  11. Oh, no. I still need to chase it down because I want to be right when I say something. I try to do no BS posts. When there's dought in MY mind it gets resurrected and quite often gets experimented with.

I make "sleep" oil for Weeds and some of her friends. About 20 minutes and it's lights out if you put it under your tongue. There's no chance to be digested.I need to chase down the process of it.

  12. YES sub lingual is a whole other manner of absorbtion (under the tongue) slower only to injection or inhaling. I thought you were speaking of edibles. sorry. Eating it, it gets to where it needs to by whatever means, no need to get into deep pharmacokinetics unless you want to.

  13. True. But I want to know the "how, whats, and whys" of it.
One time in high school I wrote a paper on why fire is hot. Got an A- over D. The A- was for content, the D was because I couldn't show proof or source. It's better to have all your ducks in a row.

  14. It does, and many many thanks

  15. If I grind down to where the material is like a fine powder and then decarb (I’ve been doing 220F for 40 mins), will this have any effect if directly consumed? I find filling capsules with oil to be a tedious mess and have contemplated skipping the infusion step entirely, as filling with the powder would be simple.

Effect? Not much if directly consumed, you have to have oil/fat or alcohol for your body to really absorb it (bioavailability BKS calls it). If you ate the dry caps with a good portion of fatty food, it would probably be better than without, but as valuable as my flower is, I want maximum results from it. That has always been oil infused with flower for me.

I do a good decarb with the flower powdery dry. That reduces the volume of material and the amount of Everclear I will have to use. Stick blender, large mouth canning jars, French press, and usually 3 quick washes (instead of one big one), rinsing everything as I go with Everclear.

Coconut oil and alcohol wash put into rice cooker until alcohol boils off completely (my rice cooker kicks down from "cook" to "warm" almost simultaneously with the alcohol all boiling off). Lecithin added after alcohol has boiled off completely. Everclear is about 5% water, and the remaining 95% ethanol is hygroscopic. So until the alcohol is boiled completely off, I don't want my lecithin in there to emulsify/trap that little bit of water in there.

I cap the resulting oil in "00" gelatin (not veg) capsules using a 20-25cc syringe and the flexible part of a 14g IV catheter. The capsules are held in place for filling in a plastic cutting board (with holes drilled through it just the right size for holding the larger bottom of the capsules). That is then screwed onto an identical cutting board the same size (bottom/floor of filling tray). I usually make them about the strength of 12 caps per gram of flower.

I put pictures of all that somewhere in BKS' huge edible thread, but don't have the pics anymore.

(EDIT - found those pictures in post #2044 of BKS' thread)

  17. My brother-in-law takes dry caps all the time for server head aches. That's beside his smoke. For his headache caps he just uses raw bud ground up and it works for him. I tried it raw but it didn't seem to be as good.

It should work for you. One thing about grinding is the you loose a little oil in your grinder and I have also heard that grinding reduces it's life. I crumble my buds one at time as I use them. just between my thumb and finger. I think it keeps the bud fresher.

Please keep me posted so I know how it works for you.

There was a comic on the doctors door that kind fits me:
"I wonder where the people I give directions to end up."

  18. I keep forgetting that not everyone grows and they have to buy it. I think I should take that more into consideration on some of my posts.

  19. I didn't mention that my brother-in-law takes one every hour. I don't remember the name of the kind of headaches he gets but they are the ones that they just can't stop. Before he started the caps he was taking some narcotic pain meds that didn't really help. The pot caps stop the pain. The doc told him he couldn't have his pain pills any more. He told the doc he didn't need them any more.

This is a true story, no bs. It could just be high dosage, but it works.

The only thing dry caps have done for me is make me get out my pipe.
