In some cases, anything is true. And that video sounds to me like she's telling them they don't need a "day job" if they're keeping it just for the health care benefits. In other words, if their creative pursuits will sustain them and their health, they can free up a job for someone else to take who doesn't have a second career in some creative field. Since it's a democrat saying it, it's easy to imagine why you think that's such a terrible thing. No one is going to quit a job they need, no matter who encourages it. I don't think we have such high unemployment because millions of people are too lazy to work. I'm sure people do waste away on unemployment in times when they are confident they can go back to work, but then again we are always told that we pay into unemployment so it ought not be a surprise if people want to maximize the return. If you made this argument during more prosperous times, I'd buy it. Not right now. What jobs exist for them to take are apparently too few at the moment. edit: no, no one looks responsible here. democrats are like the parent who wants to go back to work but are too much of a pussy to stand up to the dominant (republican) parent, who also does not have a job but has the keys to a needed vehicle and will not allow it to be used for anything job-related. someone should step in and knock their heads together.
