I have had this pit 3 seasons time to replacement almost lost my best plant thank God for guerrilla tape
Duck tape fixes anything . X gf mouth . to hair removal lmao ! Ask mcguyver . fixes a dame plane . I have all the faith that pot will hold for another harvest or more .
Just my humble POV here. We need to do all we can to stop wasting plastics, and trowing away a pot after a grow just in case it would crack seems like the old and wrong way to act, like when our parents just used to put *anything* in a garbage bag and send it to the dump. Re-use, reduce and recycle. I bet those nice extra drainage holes drilled on the sides were home made? smart move for extra aeration, but yeah, it could crack your pot. Could happen during drilling, during the first or the 47th run as well. Why not looking for a permanent repair, or switch to fabric pots?
has anyone seen a vid of side by side comparo of fabric pots vs good ol plastic pots? I looked but did not find one. It sounds good on paper about the air pruning and drainage and, and, and, but I bet in real life, you could not tell a difference in the plants grown in fabric vs plastic. I have used them in the past and many people do use them but is it really better? I did not notice anything better with fabric so i finally went back to plastic 5 gal buckets.
No Its not better . They pumped the hype so people will go out and buy them. I used to use plastic heavy duty 20 gallon. Fabric . Glass . Tear the soil bag open and put it on the ground deal . All the same. Hydro will get much bigger roots
I will agree with Bryan, hydro will grow bigger roots and plants than soil. But fabric pots can be used in hydro setup, like a flood and drain classic table, or in a drain to waste setup. Different gear for different people, and different styles for the same reasons! Fabric pot won't break. They have handles, are lighter to carry in your room or for shipping, and breath more, and yes air pruning works!! In hydro or soil setup, the time when your roots are exposed to air is just as important and loved by the plants than the one they get soaked. More air, quicker dried root zone, faster you can fertigate again!
I use aeropots and fabric pots. I have noticed zero difference between the two. The aeropots are easier to clean and maintain, but as far as growth they seem the same. The aeropot's bottom is an inch and a half higher than the floor, so you don't need anything under it for drainage. I keep fabric pots on blocks to raise them off the floor.
Some people will notice fabric pots get white molds . I like thick plastic pots. Use a dolly under them . Hose them out when needed. No matter what a grower chooses no wrong answer.
Cheaper, lighter, work as well or better??? Ya got me there. Yes I re-use them, but the ladies at the laundromat are onto me I'm afraid.
