Hey everyone, I've recently come under some financial struggles and read on a few sites that donating plasma is a decent way to get a little bit of money to get by as a college student. Has anyone donated plasma for cash before? Is it worth the time spent there getting it drawn? How frequently have you done it (if you have had plasma withdrawn)? I'm considering going to a healthcare center near my house to give some so I won't be totally broke while I'm looking for a new job.
I did in basic training, it's just like giving blood but takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending how your blood flows. They pull your blood out, take out the plasma with some spinning machine, then put you blood back into you. It feels weird as shit because when they pump back into your arm its cold and you can feel it going through your body. I didn't get paid, but it was simple and easy and not painful at all, just takes more time than donating blood. Hope this helps man!
Depends on the place, where I went you could go twice a week, 55 bucks a week. Took an hour ish per session.
Was the place a hospital or emergency medical place? I did a search for places near me and it sent me to two VERY big hospitals (been to both for stitches) and I doubt hospitals like those are gonna pay me to donate my plasma to them. I'll probably do a more thorough search, but what kind of place was the donation center like? Stupid question, I think, but I want money for my time spent donating.
No, they were private companies that use the plasma for vaccines mostly. call the places and see if they compensate for plasma donations, only way to tell if they do.
