Dome: leave on or off after hit

  1. When you take a hit, do you leave your dome on after the hit, or take it off?

  2. I alway take it off after a dab. If i dont remove the dome the heat from my nail eventually melts all the reclaim off my domes, and it sticks in between my dome and male joints. Aside from that annoying layer of claim around your male and female joint; i used to fear the heat would eventually weaken/stress my heady domes.(prob why i started removing them in the 1st place)Its really just habit now, usuallly while holding or exhaling a dab ill remove it subconsciencously.
Just curious what you do, as you didnt say. I really dont see removing it to be a necessity, but it definitely serves a purpose(mainly the claim melting into the gong seal)

  3. dome off.

Same. I just got into it at habit for those same reasons. The reclaim making the joints stick, and the protection of heat on my nice glass.

All my friends leave theirs on, so I was curious how other blades do it.

  5. dome off... dont wanna make my bubbler top heavy and prone to tip over

  6. i take mine off right away, because im paranoid my domes will get too hot and beak. my 14mm is a worked dome by Bucko, and for my other im using my DG 26mm/19mm converter as a dome. neither are easy or maybe possible to replace, (i dont think i would ever be able to replace the bucko dome) so im paranoid and careful lol.

  7. Meh I get why you'd take them off but frankly I'm more worried about accidentally knocking a dome over if its not attached to anything than I am having a piece of borosilicate glass get a little heated. (recently wrecked a $300 dome due to this while cleaning, thank god for super glue). This type of glass is specifically chosen by glassblowers due to its low affinity for thermal stress, just fyi Borosilicate glass - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  8. Off forsure. I take mine off because it gets hot as fuck, but I don't understand leaving it on anyway, you have to take it off to heat up the nail for your next dab right? What would be the point in leaving it on for an extra minute just to take it off when you've got your next dab ready?

  9. I always take it off if im taking dab after dab so it doesnt get hot quick
