Dolomite lime - raises/lowers/neutral ph

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by fawohodie, Jun 9, 2009.

  1. when dolomite lime is added to the soil by watering beacuse of a light calcium deficiency and to prevent magnesium deficiency does it lower, raises or gets the ph of the soil to neutral or it has no effect?

  2. It raises the pH.

  3. ok thanks and will that cause ph fluctuation??

  4. In horticulture, dolomite and dolomitic limestone are added to soils and soilless potting mixes to lower their acidity ("sweeten" them).

One of the most import aspects to outdoor gardening.

  5. Old thread but two conflicting views. I would think it would lower and acidify the pH but I could be wrong? Why would people add dolomite lime to balance pH if dolomite lime was basic? Tap water is too basic for marijuana plants and must be slightly acidified so why would one want to make it more basic?

  6. it lowers the acidity (raises the pH).

  7. Adding fertilisers lowers the pH a lot, lime is used to balance it out.
