Hey So I'm thinking of starting to grow my own bud and I've bought most of what I need and it should be with me in the next few days or so, but I was at the store today buying other items such as watering cans, pots etc and one of the items I refrained from buying online - mainly because I didn't think the price tag for justifiable (especially for a first time grower) was PK13/14. But, when I was at the dollar store today I was super surprised to see they sold pk13/14; obviously not CANNA brand but someother less known one. Obviously I was sceptical if it was even close in quality to other tried and tested additives but I was wondering what people thought about the idea? If it's being sold in a store surely it must do something helpful? Then again it IS only £1 so I wanted to tread with caution. Also, now that I've got you here, is it safe to use standard rooting stimulants with my cannabis plants instead of using rhizotonic? Again, grower on a budget here. I've only been researching growing cannabis for about 5 days now but I can already see what companies like CANNA are doing by bringing out an infinite number of dumb-sounding additives for sky-high prices and trying to convince you that your crop simply will not grow without Johnny's Horse Semen-Infused Root and Bud Steroid With Added Cuban-Imported Potassium Oxide or some dumb name like that. Will normal root stimulant work?
caution is good most guys /me grow organic at first to avoid the silly cost of stuff and later once the crop is in.. you see how 'nice' organic weed is consider..? good luck
Cheers man, what's your opinion on rhizotonic though is it majorly important do you reckon? If it is I might spend the £8 on it because it will last me a couple years at least
I only want the top of the line. So I only mess with top of the line, I worked at a hydro store for 8years. I know nuit lines & have tried almost all of them. Stay away from unknown sourced fertilizer, could have many heavy metals or unknown chemicals.
Nah haha I call it a pound shop but this website is mostly American so I was tryna make it more relatable looool. I had to say £1 because £1 is not anywhere near $1 ever since brexit haha
Growmore is best bang for buck of any nute i've had. Works better than gh, ff, bioniacare, earth juice, technafloral and biobizz. The 4 products i think everyone should try is growmore micro, bloom, Hawaiian bud an technafloral seaweed powder. Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
Rookie grower formula for success: Sunshine promix 4/20% perlite, fabric pots (5 or 7 gallon for finishing), A bottle of ph down and General Hydroponics floranova bloom. 3 drops ph down in your tap water 1ml/gallon of FN bloom for seedlings. 3 drops ph down 2ml/gallon for small veg plants. 3 drops ph down 3-4 ml/gallon for large veg plants. 3 drops ph down 4-5 ml/gallon for flowering plants. Done. 4% calcium, 2% magnesium in the bottle. No cal/mag needed.
Keep your trigger finger sharp and don't add more then 3 drops and you'll be fine. If you do slip, throw that batch away before you give it to the plant. I have 20+ bottles of nutes I don't own ph up. I use silica sup for ph up if I need and if it's bad I change the water. That's the benifits of DWC. Instant correction with a water change.
Cannabis is an acid loving plant. Ph up is for mistakes. It's not really needed. If it gets low just leave the ph down out and do just water and FN bloom. As long as the 3 drops gets you below 6.5 you'll be golden which it will if you use it full strength and your tap water isn't wacked. I bet you that even if it was this simple formula would probably result in a healthy plant if you had enough light. It would be in range and promix has dolomite lime which is a ph buffer.
I've gotta disagree with you on that one. Everyone's water supply has different pH values. Just because you're able to use 3 drops (or whatever) of pH down to get you to that magic pH value doesn't mean that the next guy will be anywhere close if he's starting with an entirely different pH base water. Just as an example. One guys well water pH value is going to be very different than your collected rain water, or the next guys city water etc etc. J
True, whatever water you have you'll have to know how much ph adjuster to add to get it in range. Once you know that though it's pretty repeatable.
You've put yourself in an excellent position to be able to use your rainwater setup. I'm jealous! I'm also in a position to be able to do the same - and should be. One project at a time in this 200+ year old farmhouse though lol Still, I'd like to set up like yours is. I've got a lot of roof to collect from. Did you put together your own setup? Is this a relatively common thing near you? J
Anyone living far enough from town in Alaska has to catch their own water. All the equipment is sold here locally. Most people these days are using plastic tanks. Some people will build the tank into the home's foundation. You should have a metal roof. Asphalt shingles leach chemicals into the water. You don't want to drink off of it but many people do. You just need about 1 1/2" plastic pipe for the intake, a check valve, a pump, an expansion tank and associated valves, ect. If you just use it for growing you can use barrels or something similar. Any large container that won't rust.
You can join multiple plastic barrels together to get more capacity by running a pipe low from bottom to bottom. They'll fill up at the same time. You line 6 55 gallon plastic drums up in a row and get yourself 330 gallon capacity.
