Hey guys, I am a new grower with these 2 Pineapple Express auto feminized from FastBudz being my second grow, my first was a subpar stunted zskittles auto that didn't do to well but made it to harvest. I am trying to tell if the pineapple express are ready to harvest but I cannot really tell, From a distance without a scope the tricomes look milky but under the scope, they look to be curling a bit but look more clear. Most of the buds have some brown pistles but not many. These have been growing for a little over 20 weeks now with them first starting to get their buds around the 16-week mark. They are growing on an AeroGarden bounty elite hydroponically. Do these look ready to harvest to you guys or should I wait a few more weeks? Attached are pictures taken using my phone and close-ups taken with a wifi microscope all be it shakey ones. Thanks in advance!
IMO, Not yet. Those are nicely stacked & "should" swell up pretty dramatically, fingers crossed. I see plenty of white pistils still. Thursday will be 11 weeks for my stunted autos??? Are your leaves yellowing? Mine R not. Keep swelling & they can take as long as they need. If you wanna start a pool I'll say 3-6 weeks (if stunted)???
I agree with nachoboomer, definitely not ready yet. It's really hard to tell just from your pictures, but if I were to guess.. looks like you still have 2-3 weeks left.
Yes a fair bit of my leaves are yellowing, the majority of the leaves towards the bottom are either half dead like or curling and yellowing, and about a quarter of the ones towards the top are also yellowing and looking as though they have burnt tips but have been that way with no change for the last few weeks now. I'm not sure what it could be but I was thinking it just had something to do with the plant directing all its energy to the buds.
Thank you,I will leave them another 3 weeks or so. I was reading online that I should stop the nutrients towards the end of the flower phase and use only plain water to prevent salt buildup in the buds, do you think I should start that this week if at all? I also have Carboflush from Lotus nutrients should I use that before using just water?
I've grown strictly in living soil for the last 30 years, so with that in mind... If I were in your situation.. first I would start yanking your dead and mostly dead leaves off of the plant. This will allow more light and air to reach your flowers. At this point I would have cut out almost all nitrogen, and I would gradually cut back on the P,K every feeding. Keep an eye on those pistils and when they are near 60% mature(colored), that is when I would go to h20 only.
If you decide to remove your yellowing leaves, pay attention to how they come off. If they fall right off with little to no snap or resistance then it's most likely a deficiency. If they require a twist or a pinch then it's most likely just natural senescence. This info will help you dial in your feeding for the next grow, especially if growing the same cultivar. In my opinion one of the biggest mistakes growers tend to make is assuming a fading plant is caused entirely by deficiencies and then pumping them full of nutrients mid to late flower. It sounds like you are already ahead in the learning process.
Thank you, that tid bit about the leaves actually helps tremendously because based on that my leaves that are yellowing is from natural senescence which means I should be good on the nutrients and don't need to worry about pumping
Agree with above give it more time, I've got a G13 auto that is about 3-4 weeks from finish that looks like so. Most of the trichs have some white filling, but few are full (and often you will always have some empty looking half full ones). Too early imo Below is what I consider plenty of full milky trichs, and the amber coming in (still too early though) When they start to turn amber, is when I cut (20% brown trichs more or less by the calibrated eyeball method) So when they start to look like below pic, thats when I start thinking its time to cut (however some wait until 50% brown or more, matter of personal taste imho). Hope this helps mate, apologies if not.
