does smoking weed change you as a person?

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by silverrolla5, Jul 25, 2006.

  1. say you smoke weed alot. over time you think it change your personality?

  2. I use to think it did, but after i started looking back at what i was like before i smoked i realized i was pretty much the exact same. It probly effects your motivation but i dont think it has any effects on your personality itself.

  3. Yes Yes And Yes If You Say No You Are Being An Ignorant Pothead.

  4. I believe it actually can improve you, it seems to me you become a more relaxed person, you not so uptight about things. Not meaning you jsut dont give a shit about anything but you wont freak over the little things, which will make you a much better person to be around.

  5. Agreed. I think the lack of motivation factor is a plus for some people if they are uptight. But when people are too laid back to begin with it can have a bad effect.

  6. I agree that it can make you much more laid back, but i dont think it changes your personality as a whole.

  7. I think it does, but not negativly. Well sometimes negatively. It's like anything man, somethings are meant for some and somethings are not.

If pot changes you into a person for the worse you shouldn't be smoking. But this still requires a person to have some responsibility to realize this.

  8. I don't get a lack of motivation from smoking, but I find it takes away alot of aggression... I was an asshole before I started smoking, and now I seem to be able to get along with just about anyone

  9. I think it chilled me out a bit although I'm still pretty paranoid. I think it only helps you though unless you abuse it to the point where it fucks with your life.

  10. Marijuana has broadened my way of thinking. I tend to be a hell of a lot more open to new ideas and other new things

i am also more laid back about things that used to set me off.

there are also a few negatives such as a lack of motivation to do things, but that was already there before, weed just exemplified that feeling for me

  11. id say so, definitely.

i remember on inside the actor's studio w/ george carlin pot came up and he said, "i think marijuana is definitely a value-changing drug." and i think he's correct. it tends to make people less materialistic and more cerebral. although, and this could be seen as both a negative and positive effect, it also tends to make one very edgy about peacefulness etc. i have friends who have changed drastically in this respect.

i'm all for a relaxed environment, but some of my friends now are just way too sensitive and on edge. really emotional. it's useful sometimes because they're usually on your side when you don't want to do something, but when you want to go to a party or hang out with some people who may have "bad vibes" or be "sketchy", it's a really touchy subject.

    quoting william s. burroughs:

"Tea heads are not like junkies. A junkie hands you the money, takes his junk and cuts. But tea heads don't do things that way. They expect the peddler to light them up and sit around talking for half an hour to sell two dollars' worth of weed. If you come right to the point, they say you are a 'bring down'...[t]ea heads are gregarious, they are sensitive and they are paranoiac. If you get to be known as a 'drag' or a 'bring down', you can't do business with them."

i can relate. i see such traits have developed in myself, but im sorry to say, i do sometimes want to hang out with people who are a bit insensitive.

  12. In my opinion..

I believe negatively, weed effects your motivation towards things in life..thats it.
(although, it can be a great stress reliever for those workaholics and over-achievers)

Positvely, weed opens your mind to a whole new world... which can bring great things.

To answer the question ---> yes, it does change you as a person.

Its summer time, no school for 3 months, so I get baked nearly everyday cause the summer is so chill and laidback. When the fall semester starts, im back to hittin the books and smokin only like twice a week cause weed effects my motivation... so to tie this story in with the topic... in the summer im so laidback and enjoying life but during fall/spring semesters im hittin the books so im always busy with that shit except for the weekends where ill smoke and party.

    Chuuuuch :smoking:

  13. i think it does. the person who i have always strived to be has a positive attitude, is resistant to stress, respect for his surroundings, and an appreciation for life's small and simple pleasures.

well guess what? that perfectly describes me when im stoned. a match made in heaven.

  14. I think it defiently changes you but for better or worse. People that smoke are always more chill, generally more open minded but not always.

Smoking too much can easily make people lazy though, and in my experience smoking when depressed can make it worse, but smoking when I was in good moods seemed to help and now Im almost never depressed.

I think its alright to smoke as much as you want until it starts to affect other aspects of your life such as school or work. Or if you simply crave weed all day then it maybe time for a break.

Basically I think it makes you a better person both inside yourself and what other people see. (well except people just hating smokers) but like anything it can be abused and overused.

  15. yes, someone who quotes burroughs.

and yes being a pot head changes you the same as if you were in a long term relationship. smoking pot once doesnt really change you, just like having sex with some ho doesnt change you except you can say you smoked or had sex with a ho.

  16. it chills you. loosens you. it can "burn you out" and make you maybe too loose. moderation.

  17. I think it has made me more laid back, more open to ideas and people, and definitely more responsible. alllll good son

  18. Prolonged use of any drug will effect your personality. But I wouldnt say its effected me negitively.:smoke:

  19. nope, i'm still the same guy I used to be but just more chilled I guess, I'm actually MORE appreciative of everything since I've been smoking, its opened my mindstate up to whats real and whats not.

  20. When I get high I talk much less. Only when I have something to say, but usually there isnt much to talk about unless Im around certain people.
